Combining IK’s award-winning AI Machine Modeling™ technology with AmpliTube studio-grade effects, dual signal paths, advanced routing, extensive connectivity, and intuitive touchscreen control, TONEX Board puts one of the most advanced and best-sounding complete guitar and bass rigs into an extremely powerful, ultra-low-latency compact pedalboard.

At its heart, TONEX Board delivers the sound, feel, and response of real amps, cabinets, and pedals, with the flexibility to run up to four Tone Models simultaneously across two independent signal paths. Players can combine these with 76 effects from AmpliTube and TONEX, plus all-new processors, using up to 12 effect slots to create everything from streamlined traditional rigs to sophisticated dual-amp, parallel, stereo, and wet/dry setups.

Is this going to make my TONEX pedal obsolete? I’ve been diving deep into my TONEX pedal…now what?

No, your TONEX Pedal will continue to work as it has and still supports the newest V2 Tone Model technology. TONEX Board has more concurrent Tone Models (4 simultaneously), more I/O, 76 effects including AmpliTube effects, and more for a more all-in-one solution.

TONEX Board manual says the power requirement is 5V at 1.5A.

Whereas the product page on the site says it’s 9V at 1.5A.

I assume 9V is correct, and the manual has a typo, but please can you confirm? Thanks.

That will be fixed. It is 9V at 1.5A.

Great! What sampling rates it will support when used as audio interface?

I understand my TONEX pedal will still work, but it may be considered an inferior device to the BOARD since the BOARD offers more. I guess that’s just the way it is with the technology changing so rapidly! Maybe that’s why some just stick with traditional amps.

not necessarily. i still have all my guitar gadgets. some are over 30 years old now and considered vintage. they all work and some are even sought after. i still use them to get variety in sound and workflow.

When Tonex beta period finish is everyone going to get access to the Tonex Software s new effects? The board that is now only for board owners?

Right now that is for TONEX Board users because it is in sync with their effects and signal paths. I don’t have specific information beyond that at this time.

@Peter-IK

I have a technical question to the signal routing of the Board, especially for the Loop section.

All I can find is, that the loops can be used individually, as two mono loops. (Dual-mono)

Does this mean, I can place loop 1 send directly after the amp section and loop 2 send behind the cab section?

If this is possible, the new Board will he definitely my next investment.

Thanks for clarifying this Peter-IK.

Yes you would do this via the FX Loop “FX” insert before cab. Then use another one after the cab or use the OUTPUT to SEND. OR, use both chains (depending on what you need). For example the OUT 1 goes to SEND 1, then for INPUT 2 use RETURN 1 and the output use SEND 2.

TLDR; Yes. There are a few ways to do this.

@Peter-IK Thanks a lot for that reply!

That sounds great!

At the moment I use a full Wer/Dry/Wet setup with my Tonex One combinedwith a Boss MS3 unit, but have to do the cab sim with external devices, after splitting my signal for FOH / power amp stage cabs.

When using the Tonex Board cab section, that would allow me to use not only one fixed IR, like now…instead I can use let’s say a Brown Sound amp incl the right cab for it.

But I need to feed out 6 ways from Tonex for this. 3 ways for FOH w/d/w (with cab sim) and 3 ways for on stage cabs (w/out cab sim).

Therefore my question about the independent placement for Loop1 and Loop 2.

I already have the crazy routing for this in my head, just needed to know about the Loops.

JUST GOT MINE. Powered up, screen illuminated then went dark. will not power back up

well, oddly enough, waited about 20 minutes and tried again. Powered right up. Hope this won’t be a recurring issue with my unit. All I can say is that this thing is everything I hoped it would be. Effing amazing, Once again, IK, you’ve proven time after time that you have what it takes. Five stars. Very impressed. Total fanboy here

I love it. I sold my Morningstar ml10x loops switcher. Walrus R1 reverb and my original tonex all in one week to get this unit. I was hoping IK would integrate the routing with what the original unit but I knew that was wishful and highly unlikely since IK already put this unit out with no fx. Pitch shifting and all that. Here we are and it finally happened. I was almost all in when I saw a first release video. Once I saw parallel routing my eyes went big. With what I seen and heard this unit will only get better. By replacing the soop switcher. I’m now focused on tonex as the main brain of it all. What I’m hoping for my mc6 midi is utilizing scene to stomp within one switch press. The double switch patterns is all I need from my midi when I realied heavily on the midi controller. With 2 fx loop I tied in sd1 or swap out ts9. Klon clone in fx loop 1 . Boss bd2 and Keeley Oct psi loop 2. This allows me to put loop 1 in front of loop 2 for an ideal gain stack for my choice. Loop switcher now is irrelevant and I still have choices to go with models for stomps if needed.

Love the sound and the UI on the pedal itself! I am using the dual inputs for my Chapman Stick with parallel processing for the bass and melody side and it sounds great. I would love to see WiFi/bluetooth integration for app control to tweak the board without having to bend over or kneel down and also to grab presets and tone models from the cloud without having to connect to a computer. Well done IK!

Picked mine up yesterday, absolutely loving it so far. I’ve used a rather convoluted dual ToneX Pedal rig for a couple of years so the Board is absolutely perfect for me to condense things down. Already dialled in plenty of great sounds for guitar, and the parallel path with the crossover is particularly handy for bass as it lets me do the same split frequency processing I used to do with my Helix.

Couple of small niggles/suggestions though which hopefully someone can pick up for the next update!

  • When assigning a switch plugged in to the external footswitch socket for a macro for pedal on/off, it turns it off, but never on. Tried all variations of toggle, momentary, polarity etc, and three different switches. I may be missing something, but I think it might just be a bit broken.
  • Would be nice if when you were in stomp mode and go up or down a bank if it automatically switched over to preset mode while the selection is on the screen, as currently it tells you to press a footswitch but won’t accept the input unless you manually then switch to preset mode with the fourth pedal, and that’s just a bit unintuitive - even if it said “Please select preset mode” it would be an improvement, haha.
  • I’d love if there was a way to have one external expression pedal toggle between volume and wah with a switch - most other devices can do this these days. An option for volume control at the input with a pedal via the settings as well as the ones for output would be great too, rather than having to waste a block for it and edit it into every preset individually if you want to do volume swells before the amp rather than after.
  • The Tube Driver and the Octofuzz seem to have some issues, as I can’t insert them on a path with any more than an amp with no cab which renders them useless - I can’t imagine it’s a CPU limit, maybe they are erroneously reporting they need more power than they do?

That’s a pretty short list of issues for a new device as far as I’m concerned, well done IK, haha.
