Official TONEX 2.0 Player Public Beta Discussion

IK has released TONEX 2.0 Player Public Beta. Please use this thread for discussion about this beta release.

How to get the TONEX 2 BETA:

Important: Before updating, please note that TONEX 2.0 will overwrite TONEX 1.x, so we strongly urge users to back-up their existing TONEX library. Click here for full instructions.

  1. Visit your IK User Area–> My Products
  2. Search or scroll to find TONEX for Mac/PC in your list of products.
  3. Press the “past & beta releases” button
  4. Here you will find the downloads available under the beta releases.
Click the red button for Mac or Windows and then run the installer.

*To roll back, simply uninstall TONEX 2.0 and reinstall the stable release included in the IK Product Manager. After this, your back-up can be restored.

Note that this is the official thread for any comments, issues, concerns, etc about this public beta. Other third party forums or groups will not likely get to the team so please post here.

I will post one question I saw, but again you must post here for any official attention to your issues/comments.

Q: "I might be missing something, but adding Tone Models from a folder used to be a very simple drag and drop process. That doesnt seem to be working for me. Am I missing something?

A: To import in the new version, use the more (“…”) button and select “Manage Tone Models”

What is the reason the 2.0 release to be in public beta? From watching the Youtuber reviews they clearly were not expecting it to still be in beta.

Is there an expected time period for the public beta period before the final release?

They were given early versions and made videos like they would for a release, but we decided to do a beta early for everyone.

There is no stated timeline. If you do not want to use the beta version of software (understandable for many, I get it) the current version is stable and working.

Hi IK Team,

I installed the Beta on my notebook with Win11 system and it works, did the same on my PC with Win10…and it didn’t start.

Tonex window froze on the start up and didn’t do anything.

Went back to the older version on my PC.

Is the new 2.0 not meant to run on older systems?

My library from the previous version did not transfer correctly. None of my presets survived the v2 install. None of my custom IRs even show up in the IR browser.

Thanks Peter… v2.0 looks good, but think I will wait for the stable release… maybe even 2.1! :slightly_smiling_face:

I like the look. But I’m baffled why we can’t add a booster/overdrive pedal yet. I’d even settle for something derivative from the X-Drive pedals like the others. You can use tonex in Amplitube, but it’s buggy as heck.

Hopefully it gets added to tonex 2.0 here soon.

Agreed. TONEX need this. I think lots of people support this idea.

On a separate topic from this beta: Have you reported your issues with AmpliTube 5 + TONEX to support? I haven’t heard a lot of people say they have problems with it. I’ve heard a lot/the majority of people really enjoying that workflow and integration.

On the topic of this beta: Thanks for the feedback and request. We did add the FX to TONEX but adding even more algorithmic blocks is challenging while keeping the core amp/stomp Tone Model portion stable and strong. But we have heard those requests and understand, and it is definitely appreciated knowing what people want.

Thanks for that, Peter. I had to refresh the library twice, but then my presets loaded correctly with all IRs and FX configured correctly.

No. I haven’t. i admit I just assumed others like I saw on Reddit did.

I’m glad others are enjoying it. I know many on our label abandoned Amplitube because of it. Which is a shame as I’m a huge fan of it. Mind you the amps in amplitude still sound good anyway.

Sounds like we won’t be getting the booster block in there. But I’ll remain hopeful. Been using IK since 2011. So I only want to see the stuff get better.

I didn’t report yet.

Thought I should give me feedback here.

Sorry I was replying to the separate AmpliTube 5 issue that was mentioned by another user.

Definitely good to see the feedback here, keep it coming.
