Coming from a larger multi buttoned Helix and custom pedal boards, I find it a bit more challenging to change all the presets, scenes and stomp modes with only three footswitches. Certainly OK for practice but a bit of work live (for an old dude like me with eyes and ears that are not as good as they used to be.
If IK Multi media will establish a full midi implementation chart, we could deploy a MIDI footswitch controller accesst every change needed at our feet, with a touch of a midi button. I hope IK M is working on this as the Board will be used in a more complex full live situation soon, I hope!
I love my Tonex Pedal, Board, Cab, Irig and more! Good work Guys. Im all in.

Bravo for a great product and the well thought-out features/ effects in this awesome new product. I am really enjoying some of the best sounds I’ve ever had, in one floor unit.
If it doesn’t look particularly comprehensive, it’s because the MIDI implementation is a bit on the bare side at the moment. Hopefully that will change soon, as it would massively upgrade the Board’s abilities.
Just giving us some MIDI accessible macros or the ability to directly control more than three effects on/off would make it infinitely more versatile.
Hi ,I too hope and would like a fuller implementation of midi ,similar to the Tonex Pedal as I used to control the pedal from my IPAD through Midi Bank and control changes. It should be similar on the Board.
I would definitely love to see a very comprehensive list of MIDI commands in the future, probably something like this is being worked on at IK. Hopefully we get there soon in a new update
Were you guys able to make the CC commands for Footswitches work? CC 35, 36 and 37? For some reason those are the only commands that trigger no actions in the Board, even though using the built in MIDI monitor I can see they they are being sent correctly from my controller. I tried sending the value 127 as stated in the manual and even 0, no luck. I’m wondering if this might be a bug, I’ve created a support ticket about it.
I would be satisfied for now if the footswitches A,B AND C for stomp mode could be toggled on and off by midi as shown on the MIDI TABLE ( as outlined in the current manual) as CC035, CC036 and CC037 / 127 (on). This does not seen to work? Or is it just me? Any thoughts?
This is exactly what I’m experiencing as well (A, B, C Footswitch commands issue), other commands in the table work just fine. Maybe this could be a bug or a missing feature for now?
UPDATE: Changing the option Settings->Global->Footswitch to ‘‘Press’’ solves this issue and I can trigger the footswitches A, B and C via MIDI. However since we don’t have MIDI commands for Bank Up/Down yet we lose this function on both the unit and MIDI controller.
What I’m experiencing now using the Morningstar mc6 Mark 2. Trying to utilize not using the control button on them tonex board to tap in and out from stomp mode to scene. Simultaneously triggering the Stomp I want. As the Morningstar is a double switch state pedal it is able to use Presss and release actions. And it does work toggling between the modes while simultaneously initiating stomp. Hence buttons a b c cc commands do work upon release state But I’m experiencing a glitch. As I go back to scene mode. It sometimes changes the scenes. Like if I had delay active on button C for scene. It would now be deactivated after I had initiated it in stomp mode. Basically it seems to carry it over to scene mode the changes I made while in stomp mode. I’ve even tried to create actions to put the pedal back in the same state before going out of stomp mode. It just seems like it creates more Havoc it seems like it wants to work but there’s some kind of conflict. No matter what I try to do it seems like one pedal would be off the state it was in going back to scene mode. Maybe I’m missing something here but maybe there should be some kind of a lock featureone can inititiate in scene mode so that one can initiate for this not to happen
Yeah, for all the greatness of the tonex board, they missed the tire hitting the road a bit. Hopefully a glitch that they will take seriouse soon . Without Midi implementation, it more of a toy than a tool, not ready for professional use. Seems a bit rushed to market, but I guess they needed to get there “shingle up” now, and then patch it up later? Cant blame them in todays market climate? Still diggin though.
Well i copy pasted this to support. I have faith they will make the board much greater than it is. That’s the rumors anyway. Just like the original. They never had plans with that pedal having more than reverb
They are a good company with a great product, I have no doubt that they are doing their best for us. And I’m all in I own a lot of their gear. Let’s give him a little time, they will pull through. It must be a difficult world to operate in right now, considering so many other options in the music world.
Well the midi is close to being there for what I need it for. I found a way to use it from stomp mode to scene mode but it still needs to have a lock on scene mode. If you bail out of stomp mode to scene mode with a certain pedal triggered like a delay block for instance it will keep it active for that scene you jump to and it keeps that state in that scene for as long as you stay in that preset. It just needs a feature that locks scenes so that it won’t change until you want to edit . For the most part I like how little I actually have to program midi commands. I find i use the board as the switcher more than the midi
Yeah I’m using my midi pedal with eight different patches so I can choose which setup to use then a tuner on the other one then a mode switch on the other one. I’m just using the pedal boards for stomps only seems to be working out for me that way I can have A. All s stops off with cleaner setting on thedge of breakup B. Stomp one for distortion C. A good bump on reverb and delay. D a bunch more reverb and delay shimmer and Arctic
New here, I have to say I am really Thwarted with the Midi implementation of the Board.
I own a « classic » ToneX and It’s a shame Ik sent the new Board without -at least - the same possibilitys as the old one.
As a professional guitar player, I can’t use it as the brain of my rig like I did with the old one.
800 bucks more / less than 20% of the flexibility. That’s a REAL problem. I am still not sure I will keep it as I could get a Quad Cortex for only few more money.
Yeah I hear you and I agree. However it does seem the new model for manufacturers these days is rollouts rather than complete products. I’m not sure but the future appears to not offer the completed products up front in favor of getting their hands in the game then building up the ecosystem. Probably due to the fierce competition, AI, devaluation of the dollar etc. My saving Grace is I love the tonex captures they serve my purpose well, and NAM seems to spread out, with lots of junk captures and not a great foot pedal platform yet. At this point I think I’ll wait a little longer and risk that the roll out will be sufficient, I hope.
I guess it all depends on how complicated of a setup we need for live etc. I like simplicity one great amp with some MIDI enhancements if possible.
I have a helix LT that I no longer use. I have been thinking that after full Midi implementation I could use the helix as solely a midi controller to change the tonex board parameters. That would be huge as the Helix probably isn’t worth much anymore but has awesome midi control and tons of switches etc?
