Please don’t let Amplitube die. I know you’re likely more focused on TONEX right now, but Amplitube offers a different kind of experience—one for people like me (gear nerds) who love to deep dive into tone shaping. While I’m at it, I’d love to offer some suggestions: a new version of Amplitube featuring fresh or revamped amps—like Dumble, Two-Rock, and others—and new effects such as the Klon, Bluesbreaker, and Blues Driver. It would also be great to see pedals and amps designed for acoustic guitars.
Maybe even an “Amplitube Maker” feature where you could build and customize your own amp by choosing the tubes, preamp, and speakers. Anyway, I’m a huge fan of your products, but I feel the Amplitude it’s starting to fall behind compared to other plugins. Please don’t let that happen. The plugin is already amazing, but it has the potential to be unbeatable. Thanks for your time, and sorry for the long message.
I would like to see them continue to integrate Amplitube and Tonex better. Once the effects were added to Tonex, I kind of stopped using Amplitube so that I could move seamlessly between DAW and Pedal with the same presets. The new unit is a giant step forward this way. I hope for those of us who already own both Amplitube and Tonex that we get those features in the software. Right now, you can’t turn it on in Tonex without owning a Board.
Amplitube is my go to. Not all that impressed with tonex. I’m looking forward to a new version of AT. With some new collections. How about a Tony Iommi collection ? Or a Steve Howe collection ? Jimmy Page ? David Gilmour ? You know what I mean !
I find I am a bigger AT5 user more so that ToneX even though I have both. AT5 seems to work better at higher project sample rates than ToneX for me needs.
I often combine the Tonex amps with Amplitube’s signal chain flexibility and the pedals/effects. There’s merit in the system and I hope it doesn’t get abandoned.
I think some folks think captures are the futures and emulations are out. They may be why some think Amplitube might be on its way out. Its good to see support for emulations.
Unfortunately, with the current version of AmpliTube, there is no normal way to use TONEX 2.0 content.
For now, AmpliTube is basically limited to the older amp models from TONEX 1.12.1, or to Tone Models that can still be updated or converted using version 1.12.1.
Until AmpliTube is updated to support the new TONEX 2.0 library/database format, the integration is quite limited.
Maybe someone from IK Multimedia @Peter-IK could comment on this and let us know whether an AmpliTube update addressing this is planned.

Peter, what does this mean for Tonex Rig? I have Amplitube 5 MAX and Tonex MAX, but since I don’t have Tonex Board, I’d now need Tonex Rig to have the Board in ‘software form’. An optional crossgrade. I’m not fond of the current Tonex integration in Amplitube…
But since it’s stated that Amplitube will support Tonex Board presets early Q1 2027, what’s the use of Tonex Rig for me then? Will Amplitube support Board presets for current Amplitube 5 MAX users? Will it be a paid upgrade? Or does owning a license for Tonex Rig unlock this future upgrade?
In short: what’s the use for me (and others in my position) to buy a license for Tonex Rig if Amplitube will support the Board presets also within a few months (hopefully with a nice working integration)?
I posted this on Reddit - TONEX Rig is not the same as what you get in AmpliTube and loading TONEX Presets from what I understand this means that the Library2.db models will be loaded correctly as they currently are unsupported.
In the TONEX Rig software (what I posted on Reddit): There are 10 brand new effects that are not AmpliTube or TONEX effects and check out the cab control and the Split/Mix with the crossover and polarity controls can be really powerful (and not available in AmpliTube).
The crossover, in case you’re not aware - can split CHAIN A and CHAIN B by frequency as you might think but it sounds less powerful than it really is. You can make a great chain with it, with all your low end going through a bass amp with a pitch shift down -12 for example. All your low notes can be GOLDEN that way.
Thanks Peter, I understand that the current version of Amplitube 5 doesn’t support the Tonex Board presets or possibilities. That’s why I am looking at Tonex Rig.
But it states on the Tonex Board page that Amplitube 5 MAX will support Tonex Board presets in early Q1 2027.
So it kind of seems that I can skip the purchase of a Tonex Rig license since in a few months Amplitube 5 Max will load the Tonex Board presets as well and thus incorporates the features of Tonex Rig as well (together with the other models in Amplitube 5 MAX).
if i’m not mistaken it reads as: tonex rig is not supported in amplitube until q1 2027. meaning, even when it is supported, if you dont have tonex rig, it won’t allow usage of those things that only tonex rig has. i’m more curious of the changes to ampltiube, if thats the only thing coming or maybe more?
Anyway, like you I hope that there’s a refresher for Amplitube on the horizon. On another forum I saw some commercial capture creators have visited IK Multimedia in Italy and were teasing about some new great stuff. Obviously under NDA. But just maybe .. Might it be a new version of Amplitube better fused with Tonex? One can hope
true, but the effects instide tonerig are “different” models. i haven’t been able to test it myself, there’s like 3 differnt pricings when trying to checkout and none of them are the correct price for the upgrade.
