Official TONEX 2.0 Player Public Beta Discussion

I noticed that downloading presets from the cloud for owned collections is not reliable. When I click on the download (cloud icon) the green check mark is not consistent. If I look at the preset folder, I will also often see multiple of the same presets getting downloaded as opposed to the one I clicked on. It’s quite tedious to get single downloads of the right presets, but it is doable if you click twice on the presets to make sure they audition to your device and then carefully click the download icon at the right time. If the download count goes up, it generally means your preset downloaded correctly.

I heard back from IT a solution that does work. Close Tonex first. Go into your Tonex folder (Documents > IK Multimedia > Tonex) and find the “library2.db” file. Move it (don’t delete it) to your desktop. Then restart Tonex, click on restore purchases to sign into your account, and maybe even refresh library. I’ve had to do this a few times already. Definitely a bug. But this resets what Tonex recognizes as having been purchased by you. Good luck. Also, I love the dumbles in that collection, but also check out the Double Special, and Matt Fig’s collection. Fig’s are great.

Thanks for this tip- I did not think to try that. I assume this will help alot of cases where the DB get’s out of sync with the back end server. But I tried this and it did not fix my issue. But this tip lead me to try something else that did ultimately work. What I did was click “try” and downloaded the 4 presets that were not working. Once I did that and then restarted Tonex, they continue to work without any further issues. It almost seems like the issue could be on the server side where the presets are downloaded from (wrong metadata or something?). Only 4 presets from that pack caused me issues… “Stunning Clean” “Dreamy Clean” “Phasing Chime” “A Bit Pushed”. The rest worked fine.

I will also check the other packs you mentioned - thanks for the note. I so love that creamy edge / crunch that cleans up with volume.

Update: It was working until I did a refresh library. Now it’s back to saying missing model for those 4 presets. This is a strange bug given it only affects 4 specific presets and seems to be some license check anomaly.

Hello, how do I get Tonex 2? I have the full pedal. Not the Board pedal. Everytime I click on “download Tonex 2” on the IK page,

it takes me to my products and it isn’t there. Thanks

Edit - is it the downlaod in Tonex Max ? This isn’t particularly clear.

With the update full signal path splitting has been made possible, wich is excellent.

Complex setup question:

Is it possible to send signal chains to Out 3 and 4 as i am using a tonex cab and a recto poweramp for these outs with the IRS disengaged whilst keeping the IRS on for the possibility to run them on through outs 1 and 2 that go to the front of house?

Greetings

I’ve seen in a release video from Jason Sadites that to enable the TONEX Board engine within version 2.0, you need to pay $99 if you don’t own the board. I have purchased both TONEX Max and Amplitube MAX previously, and it honestly feels wrong to put this gate in place if you own those. I am never going to pay that extra price for functionality that I essentially own in Amplitube already.

Unfortunately, there is still another major issue: you currently can’t properly use the same captures loaded in TONEX 2.1.0 inside AmpliTube MAX. The TONEX and AmpliTube libraries still don’t seem to be fully synchronized, which makes the whole ecosystem feel unnecessarily fragmented — especially for users who already own both TONEX MAX and AmpliTube MAX.

So apparently the paywall is still there for MAX users. And even if you decide to spend another $99 to get past this one, it feels like there will probably be another gate waiting for you just around the corner. At this point, “MAX” is starting to sound less like “everything included” and more like “maximum number of additional upgrades.”

I don’t feel like I am just asking for free stuff. I have invested a lot of money in IK’s products because I like them, but having access to the TONEX board engine in the software feels like a reasonable request for people that have made this investment. The MAX umbrella feels very segmented.

I completely agree… it’s a very Micro$oft-like business driven approach. I’ve spent a lil bit o’ cash too, and while the content (once you actually get it installed and configured correctly) is actually stellar, the sales/delivery and support business models leave much to be desired. This most likely could/would cause a bit of chaos for the internal engineering & development resource(s), and that’s where / why issues such as these paywalls ‘appear’ - a toll booth if you will. The problem with this is one of they (IK) know what they want to do, however they don’t appear to know what not to do. The user / customer base will just have to wait n see…

“Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose”

In the latest 2.1 version had the volume issue being fixed in the DAW comparing with the 1.3.1 ?

I mean, so… don’t?

You said it yourself, you have the functionality already. You don’t need it. Run ToneX in Amplitube, voila, you have basically everything (and more!) that the paid upgrade gives.

The only reason to have it is if you really, really want to have all that in ToneX rather than in Amplitube, or want to make presets which work on the Board but don’t own one. If so, you now have the option.

Otherwise you’re not really missing anything by not buying the upgrade.

The only people who really do need that extra functionality are Board owners, and they get it for free. Seems pretty simple and fair to me.

Except you can’t run Tonex in Amplitube anymore. We just got a downgrade instead of an upgrade. Thanks Tonex. I’ll be using more and more of Genome.

Might want to tell my computer that, as it apparently disagrees.

If TONEX really is fully integrated into AmpliTube, try loading a new amp capture into TONEX 2.1.0 and then see if you can actually find and use that same capture in AmpliTube.

Mine just tells me to install Tonex, which is already installed and registered I don’t see any updates for Amplitube. Mine is on 5.10.9 Is this the same version number you have?

5.10.9 here too - no idea why yours isn’t allowing ToneX as there hasn’t been any changes on that front at all, ToneX will still be fully usable in Amplitube, at least I’ve not heard anything to the contrary.

Yup, that part is still borked, haha.

Amplitube hasn’t been updated yet to use the new database format, I’m sure that’s in the pipeline though - I’m guessing they wanted to get the 2.1 ToneX release out first and make sure that’s all working before updating Amplitube to match, as it’s a lot simpler to hunt bugs in one thing at a time rather than two.

I own Total Studio 5 MAX, an AXE IO, a Tonex Cab, and a Tonex pedal. You’d think I’d be entitled to everything working correctly.

This update was not slated to support TONEX Board presets in AmpliTube 5, please see my previous post that showed the information/roadmap information from our web site: Official TONEX 2.0 Player Public Beta Discussion - #384

Hey @Peter-IK, running into issues with the Product Manager. Whenever trying to download the new Tonex 2.0 update, it gets stuck at “launching setup, please wait…” but never launches the installer. Restarting computer, clearing cache in Product Manager, and restating Product Manager all fail to fix the issue.
