Product:
TONEX One+
Summary:
Global option to disable auto-save for CC MIDI messages
Problem / Use Case:
[What problem are you solving? Who is this for? Why is this important?]
I recently bought the TONEX One+ pedal. I have owned the TONEX Pedal (original) for some years now and I am deeply invested in the ecosystem. I love it and want to experience more of the awesomeness of TONEX tones when playing live. My plan is to optimise space on my pedalboard while getting the most out of TONEX. When I heard that TONEX One+ has MIDI, this got me excited and I bought one thinking that it can fully replace my original TONEX Pedal for live performance.
Unfortunately, I discovered quite quickly that the One+ has this extra feature called “auto-save” which is always on and results in any change being saved to the current preset. This makes very little sense when you are using MIDI to control the pedal during a live performance for changes like FX on/off, increasing gain etc. These are changes that are made by sending CC messages.
Let me describe the problem in more details:
With the TONEX ONE+, a MIDI CC intended as a temporary live command effectively becomes a preset-edit command:
- Send PC to load preset with delay off.
- Send CC to turn delay on.
- TONEX writes that state into the preset.
- Change presets.
- Return to the original preset.
- Delay is now permanently on.
Proposed Solution:
My feature request and solution to this problem is that you add a global option to disable auto-save for all changes made by CC messages. It can remain active for changes made directly on the pedal or changes made using the software because this still makes sense.
I believe the logical solution is to allow for CC message changes to not have auto-save enforced, and to provide this as a global option. I have seen many people in the online community saying that the auto-save feature is a showstopper for them. Kindly consider this request.
Priority / Impact:
High - it currently prevents me from using the pedal live with a MIDI controller to leverage the full feature set.
