The hardware requirement is the USB port, the USB to MIDI convertor block is software, isn't it? A collection of mappings from endpoints to entities and external ports?

There have been two recurring arguments against MIDI (both of which I wholeheartedly disagree with)
1) Adding midi will "cannibalize" and steal sales from the original Tonex pedal
2) What do you expect for a sub-$200 device?
Adding even a limited midi implementation (e.g. mapping each preset to a PC code and that's it... of course, now with the new FX they really should add MIDI support to control the FX) would be fine. There are still many users out there who want the original Tonex pedal for the extended tactile controls AND ability to store many more amp models. Adding a simple MIDI implementation to the One would likely bolster the sales of the One (especially if they were to release another firmware update that adds this...hint hint) and make them stand-out as the true market leader in this regard. But I don't think it would hurt or take away sales from the original Tonex pedal any more...
Also, there are sub-$200 devices that exist that have said simple midi implementation - look at the Zoom multi-stomp devices. MIDI over USB and you can find some of those multistomps (MS50G) for less than $100. Cost to implement MIDI (especially considering this should be capable via software/firmware) is a non-factor (to point #2 about people "expecting too much" from this device)
