Some iLoud Sub FAQ

I’ve been seeing some common questions about iLoud Sub online and thought these questions could be answered in a thread here.

A: YES, absolutely!

Q: Does iLoud Sub really work with any studio monitors?

Short A: Yes, you’ll benefit from ARC X correction with other speakers like the ones below.

Long A: Yes, but the best results are with studio monitors with 3”-7” woofers. Why? See the next question about iLoud Precision monitors.

Q: Does iLoud Sub work with bigger iLoud Precision studio monitors?**

A: Yes. It is possible to use the iLoud Sub with the Precision series as well. The iLoud Precision 6 and iLoud MTM are not specifically mentioned because their low-frequency extension is close to that of the iLoud Sub. In addition, the maximum SPL level of the Precision 6 and MTM is significantly higher than that of the iLoud Sub, which makes high-volume listening less than optimal. However, these monitors can still be used together with the iLoud Sub for optimal listening at medium volumes.

Q: Can you use two iLoud Subs together?

A: At the moment, the ARC X application is compatible with only one iLoud Sub device. We look forward to adding the ability to connect multiple iLoud Sub in a future update.

Q: Can I connect iLoud Sub to the “sub out” on my monitor controller?

A: No, you must not connect the nearfield speakers to a monitor controller while plugging the sub into the sub output. The audio signal must enter the input connectors of the iLoud Sub and the nearfield monitors must be connected to the output connectors of the iLoud Sub. The sub handles the calibration and alignment of the nearfield monitors autonomously through its internal DSP processing.

Q: What if I have large studio monitors with low frequency response similar to iLoud Sub?

A: Please see the answer to the iLoud Precision question above.
