Official TONEX 2.0 Player Public Beta Discussion

I would love a Tone Model check box for IK Multimedia created or not, allowing us to easily browse or disregard third party models.

Two big issues for me with the 2.02 update. The first one, the VST plugin causes Cakewalk Sonar to hang and I can’t open existing projects which used the Tonex plugin. The second issue is with the interface, I can’t find a way to find my user folders that also contain my user presets (I am using the stand alone app to try this). I even searched for a folder that I know exists (it was called my matchless) and I get no results. I have many folders (and the complete Tone Junkie collection) and I can’t find these folders at all. It looks like the software is only displaying what was previously under Tone Model while not disl;aying what was under the presets tab.

Thanks for the the information about OneDrive.

Using the first method, I get the following window, which doesn’t allow me to select individual folders.

When I try the second method I get the following window. The Documents folder is greyed out so I can’t select folders to exclude.

Maybe my OneDrive setup is different to yours.

In any case, Tonex 2 seems to be working with OneDrive as I haven’t experienced the problem as yet.

Thanks again for your help.

1-diminuir a quantidade de clicks, deixar tudo a mostra, informações, pedais, amps etc… com botões já na cara para o uso e verificação de onde está regulado o dispositivo;

2-fixação das telas, deixando várias pré-fixadas para monitoração e alteração de IRs, amplificadores, pedais, regulagens tudo ao mesmo tempo e com menos clicks, com tudo a vista do usuário;

3-possibilitar arrastamentos e tirar os submenus dos itens como, exemplo, do reverb (tipos de reverb);

4-Possibilitar, para quem quer usar, subpastas de usuário, facilitando a organização de presets de usuário;

É isso, caminho a perfeição.

Less than 1/3 of the tone models and IRs are transferred to version 2. And only 2 of 50 presets.

Sorry, this is a non starter for me. I prefer the previous version. If I delete 2.0 and revert back to the previous version what do I lose besides the so called ‘workflow’ update ?

I’d like the app to automatically select the amp and preset I last used when I launch it.

It’s inconvenient that it defaults to the default settings every time.

I don’t need VIR. Does anyone actually use this?

I’d also like it to save my filter settings.

I have to reset the filter settings every time I insert the plugin into my DAW.

Yes. Many. It is one of the lauded parts of TONEX that allows a more complex and top-shelf option for cabs vs standard static IRs. But IRs are still supported of course since many use those.

Did you ever find a fix for this? Same happened to me. I have tried to refresh the library, but to no avail.

I do not see a way to save a backup from 1.x to a specific, user-chosen disk location, and/or a way to ‘import’ a backup into 2.0.2. The Library refresh shows operation via the progress bar, but then no results, so it’s hard to know if it really is finding the 1.x backup. Sometimes it takes a half hour to run and sometimes a minute….

For folks having library refresh issues, you could try re-adding your original Library.db to the Documents > IK > TX folder. It will try to import again.

I am not sure why their items would be missing, I would suggest reaching out to IK Support with more information - like which items, are they user items, factory, ToneNET, etc so they can assist you directly.

I re-installed 1.12.1 right over version 2 and all seems fine. I didn’t do anything else.

Very pleased with the new interface. As other have mentioned, three items i would like fixed:

  • Default preset on tonex 2 (last used would be amazing)
  • Different folder structure for Amps and Cabs / IRs
  • Allow Cab IRs to be drag and dropped too

Additionally, two nice-to-haves could be

  • an auto-save button for preset editing (like when tweaking a preset on the tonex one pedal)
  • a quicker way to visualise what amp and cab is being used on a certain preset under Tonex 2

Thanks for your work!

I know this might sound silly, but for the users who have had their library not load, have you tried refreshing the library in the app? I’m away from my PC atm, but from memory you click on the little person icon in the corner, and hit refresh library. This might bring back your tone models, presets and folders. Did for me.

For me, doing that nukes almost everything I have. All user folders and most presets and captures in the app. All i see is the new 2.0 factory folder and models. In the Documents/TX folder I see a “Library” file that is about 97mb, then a “Library2” file that is about 17mb.

However I see all my models in the TX folder. Also, all my 3rd party libraries are there.

Dunno

I have tried refreshing the library many times. The first few times I tried, it took a half hour to complete the progress bar, and then no results were observed. The last time I tried it, the process was ‘completed’ in just a couple of minutes, but again, no results: none of my User presets/folders were imported/added/restored.

Later, in the will try Peter’s suggestion to manually move my original Library.db to the Documents folder.

But, for ‘feedback,’ I would welcome a means of saving a backup to any location I chose. I believe this is how other apps work: Save backup/Save Library > [navigate to any disk/location] > Save, with ability to title it as I choose (especially with a DATE).

Then, in the newer app version, I could IMPORT LIBRARY (or restore from backup) > (navigate to that location).

This means I could store multiple copies of my libraries, where ever I choose, and instead of a ‘blind’ “Refresh library” where I can’t see what the operation is trying to access, there would be a targeted file I’m opening. I’ve never had an import operation in any other app give me nothing as this 2.0 and 2.0.2 have given me.

That’s what I did: manually move my original Library. All 2.0 versions thus far have then created the Library2 file and will not load or display my original library.

Thats so odd. I backed up before updating to 2.0, restored library and all came back. Win 11 if that helps. One thing I’d try is make a copy of all your presets and tone models in case they get overwritten/deleted. Move this copy as well as any library.dll files to a desktop folder, delete the contents of the factory folders and do a fresh library refresh. once that baseline is established, reintroduce the preset and tone model files into the factory locations, refresh lib, restore purchases etc. This may “trick” the program into refreshing properly. Bit of a faff around, and hopefully something IK fixes

Win11 for me, too. Ill try the procedure you outlined.

Nope. Didn’t work.

Thankfully I’m doing this on my tester laptop and not my main studio PC

Oh dude that sucks. The last option, providing you can still “see” the tone models/presets files in the folder, is just drag and drop them in to the main ui window. Apart from that, hopefully someone from IK can chime in on the forums as it seems to be an issue a few users are facing.
