MODO Bass 2 / Modo Drums No Host Automation?

So why does MODO Bass 2 and MODO Drums have no available host automation so I can configure control in my DAW (Ableton) to allow my Push Controller to adjust basics such as mic / studio adjustments? Makes it a little useless if one has to constantly use the mouse to make simple adjustments.

Will this be improved or added? Host Automation is useful for more than just automating recordings and I feel developers need to invest actual time into making sure users can add control of a plugin from their hardware. Shaping up to be a huge dissapointment compared to the likes of Spectrasonics Trilian.

MODO BASS and MODO DRUM allow control over the instruments/articulations which is covered in Chapter 10 (Control for MODO BASS 2, MIDI Mappings for MODO DRUM 1.5) of their respective User Manuals. You can use keyswitch, Pitch Wheel, CC, etc, like mentioned in this example section from the MODO BASS 2 User Manual:

Any control can be associated to a Keyswitch, Pitch Wheel or a MIDI message like Control Change and Aftertouch.

And this from the MODO DRUM 1.5 User Manual:

The Mapping section lets you customize your MIDI Map, the note assignments for each drum or articulation. A custom MIDI Map lets you associate the articulations of MODO DRUM Elements to MIDI notes.

The MODO Drum and MODO BASS mixer and amp sim type of functionality are not controlled in this same way and are best for standalone - when you output to separate tracks in your DAW you should be able to control things like effects, busses, sends/returns, individual track levels, or typical DAW type of adjustments in the DAW and automate those tracks there.

The built-in mixer in MODO DRUM and the amp/room section of MODO BASS do not have controls that you can automate like the instrument’s core elements and articulations which are the focus of these instruments.

But what about Host Automation as I asked specifically about this missing functionality??

It is not possible or logical in many cases to use MIDI. For instance, saving and recalling instrument racks with multi-out mapping it is ideal to have saved host automation configurations that instantly apply to a hardware controller since MIDI mapping does not xmit the parameter name.

Rather dissapointing the basics are not even accessible. I guess you also don’t want blind users using these as how would onwe use a mouse to even map the MIDI template to start with? Having some basic HA parameters at least let a controller access them immediatly without having to do cumbesome and outdated MIDI mapping.

Just seems unfinished and disappointing to have updated my Total collection for plugins that I personally will not be able to use as intended since I take this as a hint this will not be improved.

I understand your feelings on this, for sure. There’s a Feature Requests subforum if you’d like to put a request there, or if you’d like to reach out to IK Support they may have more technical insight to share and to relay your request, etc.
