I’ve got an IK Axe, and I purchased a Ampero controller footswitch.
I have amplitube and ToneX installed, and I play my guitar through the Axe and Logic Pro on mac os X.
I’ve got the ampero software on my phone, and the ampero footswitch is plugged in via usb to my desktop mac, and that’s as far as I’ve gotten.
All I want to do is make a couple different settings with amplitube/Tonex - one a nice clean effect, and the other very overdriven, and be able to switch between the 2 settings with the Ampero.
I hate to ask for help, but I have brain damage from a heart attack I had several years ago, and I’ve never used midi anything before. It’s very hard to keep all of this in my head.
Would anyone be willing to help me get started with this? Thank you in advance!
I have a ampero control foot switch and a tonex one, but not a AXE, but I believe all you need to do is use a midi cable from the ampero to the AXE and then set the midi channels on same channel i.e. channel 1 or whatever, then set the ampero control to send the program changes for your channels in the axe…
Here is what Gemini AI says,
hope this helps.
To change presets via Program Change (PC) messages from a Hotone Ampero Control to an IK Multimedia device (such as an IK Multimedia AXE I/O or AmpliTube/TONEX software running on your computer), you need to match the MIDI channel and assign a PC message to a footswitch. [1, 2]
Step-by-Step Configuration
Connect the Hardware
Run a standard 5-pin MIDI cable from the MIDI OUT of the Ampero Control to the MIDI IN of your IK Multimedia hardware interface, or connect via USB/Bluetooth depending on your host setup. [1, 2]
Pair the Ampero Control App
Open the Ampero Control app on your mobile device or tablet.
Put the Ampero Control into pairing mode (hold down the two middle footswitches simultaneously until the LEDs blink) and connect in the app. [1, 2, 3, 5]
Assign the PC Message
Select the Bank and the specific Footswitch (e.g., FS1) you want to use.
Set the footswitch mode to Single.
Tap the plus (+) icon to add a new MIDI message.
Set the MIDI Channel to match the channel your IK device or AmpliTube/TONEX is listening on (default is usually Channel 1).
Set the message Type to PC (Program Change).
Set Data 1 to the target preset number (0–127 correspond to presets 1–128). [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Save the Changes
Hit the Save button in the top right corner of the app to write the configuration to the Ampero Control. Pressing the footswitch will now instantly call up your target preset
