Can't change buffer size with axe i/o solo and ableton live 12

Hello everyone, I want to change the buffer size to 128 when recording but the menu is greyed out in the axe control panel, and clicking on “hardware setup” in Ableton live 12 doesn’t open anything up.

I tried using asio4all to change the buffer size but the latency change is negligible.

I also made sure to use the axe i/o control panel with administrative control, but still no luck, the buffer size menu is still greyed out. would love your input because maybe i’m doing something wrong.

I’m using latest windows 11 and Live 12

thank you all in advance!

You should be able to choose the ASIO drivers for AXE I/O Solo in your Ableton Live setup. You may even be prompted to open the AXE I/O Control Panel when you do so. I know you mentioned the “hardware setup” but please check out this Ableton help document and follow these steps to set up a USB audio interface:

https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/articles/211476789-Setting-up-an-Audio-Interface

Thank you.

Thanks for the reply Peter!

I was already using the axe i/o drivers inside Live, and from perusing the net it seems i’m not the only person having this issue where the buffer size menu is disabled.

I checked out the link you provided but couldn’t find any new information there.

if anyone else is interested, I found a workaround in another forum- downloading the Reaper DAW and changing the buffer size inside its settings, and that changed the buffer size in Live and the axe i/o control panel. but I really wish I didn’t need to do all that.

Thanks again!
