Problem / Use Case:
Currently, macros can only be configured directly on the TONEX pedal, which is not always convenient, especially when managing multiple presets or working in a studio environment.
For users who rely on TONEX as a central part of their rig (both live and in production), the lack of macro editing in the desktop editor slows down workflow and makes precise adjustments more time-consuming.
Additionally, macro editing functionality was shown in a teaser video for the ‘TONEX Editor’ update, suggesting this feature may have already been considered or partially developed.
Proposed Solution:
Add a dedicated macro editing section within TONEX Editor, allowing users to:
Assign parameters to macros
Adjust ranges and behavior visually
Save and recall macro configurations per preset
This could be integrated similarly to how parameters are already managed in the editor, maintaining consistency with the current UI.
Priority / Impact:
High / This would significantly improve workflow speed and usability for both live performers and studio users.
An additional problem without it is when editing and saving an existing preset that already has macro settings that you don’t have any visual representation for and your tweaks don’t seem to get saved because of the position of your expression pedal at the time of saving.
Regarding the “Proposed Solution” here is how I picture it working:
In TONEX Editor software, add a new button to the other side of the Tone Model Dropdown (similar to the “Link Cab” button that’s already present).
The new button can be called “Macro”.
By default, it will be greyed out. When you click the Macro button, it will turn orange (again, similar to the Link Cab button).
When “Macro” is greyed out, you are looking at the settings of the main preset.
When “Macro” is highlighted orange, you’re looking at the settings of the Macro.
This way you can select the Amp, Cab or FX at the top of the window, and flip back & forth between the Main Preset and the Macro to see how each one changes when the Macro is engaged.
Ideally, this new Macro button could also have a disclosure arrow (same style as the Save button at the top of the window). When you click on the arrow it could have 3 options:
“Add Macro” (for any presets which don’t already have a Macro set up)
“Clear Macro” (for presets that already have a Macro you want to remove)
“Save Macro” (to save / overwrite any previous macro settings with the current settings)
I hope that makes sense to others. I’m certainly not trying to hijack this post - just wanted to add my 2 cents. (I was in the process of creating a new post to ask for the same feature before I found this one. @Peter-IK - please can you add the “tonex” tag to this post? It might help others find it.)
