Add a “Stomp Mode” for each block

Product:
ToneX

Summary:
Add a “Stomp Mode” that allows each processing block (EQ, noise gate, compressor, reverb, modulation, etc.) to be used independently.

Problem / Use Case:
When the TONEX pedal is placed on a traditional pedalboard alongside other pedals, it becomes almost useless unless it is used strictly for amp modeling. If I’m not using the amp/cab modeling section, the pedal cannot function as a normal stompbox for essential effects like EQ, noise gate, reverb, or modulation. Each block in the signal chain is locked behind the Tone Model structure, so none of the individual processing blocks can be used independently.

Proposed Solution:
Add a Stomp Mode where each processing block can be turned on/off independently, just like individual pedals. Allow saving presets that use only EQ, only gate, only reverb, etc., and add a dedicated Parametric EQ block to the chain.

Priority / Impact:
High — greatly increases flexibility, reduces the need for extra pedals, and makes TONEX valuable even without amp modeling.

Can you not do that already, or am I not understanding you right. Just turn off everything you don’t want in the stomp mode.

I haven’t used the TONEX pedal for a while, but as far as I remember, you always had to load an amp model or a stomp preset in order to use any of the effects. Using a completely clean guitar signal with only the noise gate, compressor, delay, or any other effect was not possible.

Maybe it would be possible if you made some kind of transparent neutral null preset that wouldn’t much color the sound of the signal, and then you could put the desired effect on it.

You can disable both the Amp and Cab in a Preset (and Cab can be disabled globally if that suits you, but note Amp cannot).

See Setup → Preset Setup in the TONEX Pedal User Manual.

Great news! Thanks for the clarification — I’ll definitely try this again and see how it behaves in practice.
Also, are there any plans to add an Parametric EQ block to the chain? That would allow the pedal to be used purely as an EQ pedal with the amp and cab turned off, since right now the EQ is tied to the amp section.

You can still use the EQ, even with the amp switched off.

I didn’t even know the EQ still works with the amp fully switched off.
All this time I thought the EQ was chained to the amp section.

It looks like all of my feature request is already fulfilled

Thanks everyone for the replies — really appreciate all the input!

I only use the Tonex one for my acoustic guitar IRs, so it was important that it could do what you were asking. I replace the cab with an acoustic IR and switch everything else off. The beauty of the Tonex one for this purpose is that it has a mix control in the EQ section, So you can blend the guitars pickup with the IR. Something you can’t do with Valeton pedals. No mix control on those.

I actually have both — the GP‑5 and the TONEX One. I stopped using the TONEX after I bought a real guitar amp, since I play through it most of the time now. I kept the GP‑5 on my pedalboard only because I use it as an EQ pedal (all other blocks are off).

But I’ll definitely try it out on the TONEX as well, since its amp models are way better than the Valeton ones. That way I can experiment with presets, and also use it purely as an EQ pedal whenever I don’t need any amp simulation.
And thanks again for the tip with the Blend and the IR — really appreciate it.
