Hi, If I understood right, you are asking to have option to install the main software supported files in different location instead of the main local drive?

I didn't see any reason to install the softwares in another drive, its only the content which are huge was preferred to be installed on different drive.

Or you mean to install the contents in different location?

Correct, users should have the option to install the IK Product Manager software itself on whatever drive and location they choose. (Not just the plugins and their large sound libraries, but the IK Product Manager software itself.)

It's fine that you don't see the need, but there are a lot of people with different computers and different drives of different capacities and speeds, and how they choose where they want to place software should be their decision, based on how they maintain their systems.

The C: drive is typically the operating system drive, and over years is prone to bloat and other issues that make it much simpler to restore to a fresh/cloned state without having to worry about programs that decided to make their home right there.

I mean no offense, but people have asked for this over years, and it is an extremely common feature in most installation programs these days to give the user the option to where they choose to install their software. Even something like a 300 megabyte product manager software.

I don't see the need for the IK Product Manager to insist on only installing on my operating system's C: drive.

Another request to add the ability to uninstall sounds from the Product Manager OR from your OS. It is currently a very messy process.

Thanks.

Hello forum,

I risk wrecking everyones nerves since linux was already mentioned here, but please hear me out, this is different!

I am a happy IK multimedia total studio max user as of recent because I got all software to run under linux via wine/yabridge in reaper native.

However, the IK Product manager itself is unable to download the installer/library files for whatever reason, so my workaround is:
Start windows - select products i want to install - copy files from download folder onto linux drive - start product manager via wine - done!

I feel like the solution to this would be trivial for ik as this is the error in wine

Code: Select all
22:29:57.869 > e:DOWNLOAD
22:29:57.869 > { request: 'START', id: 'I216' }
22:29:57.871 > download progressive https://g1.ikmultimedia.com//plugins/MixBox/MixBox_1_5_1.zip
22:29:58.103 > download started MixBox_1_5_1.zip

I would gladly accept that the product manager does not download it by itself, instead I could just wget/curl the above url.

This does not work as the response is 403 Forbidden

I wonder if this restriction is really necessary as it is just the installer file which every user has plain on his/her disk anyways.

So IK - could you allow downloading the installer files from any client? If not, could you provide a workaround for linux users that does not entail using product manager in windows?

Thank you!
