Syn2 includes the Syn1 instruments, upgraded to use the Syn2 engine (and are .st4i instrument files), so you can edit them on the Edit page. "The Edit Panel is only available for new Syntronik 2 presets including the new presets created for the 22 original Syntronik synths. "
I wish all the Generation 1 presets included in Syntronik 2 SE were the new, updated, editable versions. I have nowhere near the 1000 Syntronik 2 presets I should have based on the IKM product comparison table.
They are if you pay for the upgrade to the full version.
Thanks for your insight. However, my wishes still stand. Plus I think it would help sell Syntronik 2 to both new and loyal customers. Let me explain if it wasn't clear:
IKM's website and third party vendors say that the Syntronik 2 SE version comes with 1000 presets. Nowhere in the product description does it say that less than half of the included presets will work fully (or that over half are uneditable).
The website is clear that only Syntronik 2 and Syntronik 2 MAX will update Syntronik 1 and Syntronik 1 Deluxe Instruments, and that CS and SE will only "host" them. It seems clear to me that this addresses people who already have Syntronik 1.
Not only is it misleading that less than half of the 1000 included presets in SE will not work fully, but by being misleading, (1) it does not inspire confidence in IKM and (2) it is a counterproductive marketing strategy.
If SE included 1000 presets that worked fully in Syntronik 2, I expect that fewer consumers would be frustrated by this limitation and more would be likely to upgrade/crossgrade to Syntronik 2 or Syntronik 2 MAX.
As for the second of my wishes (documentation of included presets, their "generation," and included wavesets, I believe that will also help IKM sell Syntronik 2 full and MAX and the individual
Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of the built-in editor and the option to build presets with up to 4 wave oscillators. I think these are strong points in its favor. I just think that saying it includes 1000 presets is very misleading and will hurt sales of the full and MAX versions.
IKM should be totally up front with the limitations if they will not provide the 1000 presets.
