"deep editing on Syntronik 1 patches." is not technically possible as they use the Syn1 engine.

Syn2 includes the Syn1 instruments, upgraded to use the Syn2 engine (and are .st4i instrument files), so you can edit them on the Edit page. "The Edit Panel is only available for new Syntronik 2 presets including the new presets created for the 22 original Syntronik synths."

The Syn1 synths in Syn2 have two categories of presets:
-- presets new for Syn2, these can be edited on the Syn2 Edit page,
-- presets that were originally provided in Syn1, these cannot be edited on the Syn2 Edit page.

For example, Blau has 90 presets in Syn 1, 100 in Syn2 SE and 150 in Syn 2, So 10 can be Edited in Syn2 SE and 60 in Syn2.

Using Syn2 numbers from the Compare Versions table on the product web page.

I wish all the Generation 1 presets included in Syntronik 2 SE were the new, updated, editable versions. I have nowhere near the 1000 Syntronik 2 presets I should have based on the IKM product comparison table.

Also, I wish that IKM provided complete lists of which presets are supposed to be included with each version of Syntronik 2, the generation of those presets, and the wavesets included with each instrument (bundled and a la carte).

Thanks.

I have clarified (hopefully) my earlier post about Syn1 synths in Syn2.

They are if you pay for the upgrade to the full version, that includes all of the newly revised presets for Syn 1, as v2 presets.

It is my understanding that Syn 2 SE doesn't go all the way.

Thanks for your insight. However, my wishes still stand. Plus I think it would help sell Syntronik 2 to both new and loyal customers. Let me explain if it wasn't clear:

IKM's website and third party vendors say that the Syntronik 2 SE version comes with 1000 presets. Nowhere in the product description does it say that less than half of the included presets will work fully (or that over half are uneditable).

The website is clear that only Syntronik 2 and Syntronik 2 MAX will update Syntronik 1 and Syntronik 1 Deluxe Instruments, and that CS and SE will only "host" them. It seems clear to me that this addresses people who already have Syntronik 1.

Not only is it misleading that less than half of the 1000 included presets in SE will not work fully, but by being misleading, (1) it does not inspire confidence in IKM and (2) it is a counterproductive marketing strategy.

If SE included 1000 presets that worked fully in Syntronik 2, I expect that fewer consumers would be frustrated by this limitation and more would be likely to upgrade/crossgrade to Syntronik 2 or Syntronik 2 MAX.

As for the second of my wishes (documentation of included presets, their "generation," and included wavesets, I believe that will also help IKM sell Syntronik 2 full and MAX and the individual

Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of the built-in editor and the option to build presets with up to 4 wave oscillators. I think these are strong points in its favor. I just think that saying it includes 1000 presets is very misleading and will hurt sales of the full and MAX versions.

IKM should be totally up front with the limitations if they will not provide the 1000 presets.

The stated number of presets on the IK site are what you should find in the product. If there is a discrepancy in your install, please open a support ticket.

Nope

In Syn2, in Blau only 36 presets can be edited on the Syn2 Edit page, not 60!

Agreed, I was going on the numbers given on this page:
https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/syntronik2/index.php?p=versions

Other users have reported discrepancies in the numbers of presets. As I understand it the numbers quoted by IK Multimedia are the number of instrument presets themselves PLUS the numbers of Wave Sets. It would be clearer is that were reflected on the web pages.

It should be very easy to verify if this is true. Take the number of instrument presets listed in Syntronik 2 for each instrument, add the number of Wave Sets listed in the Wave Set Browser for each instrument, then compare that with what the IK comparison chart shows.

Please let me know if any of my numbers are incorrect.

hello Steve,

You have reversed your list,

it's not
# Instrument new Wave Sets old TOTAL IK CHART

but

# Instrument old new Wave Sets TOTAL IK CHART

And for

Galaxy: it's 79 and 181 only if you have Syntronik1 Deluxe and installed the Bonus Content, i think
J-60: it's 78 and 122 with Syntronik1 Deluxe and Bonus Content,
Pro-V: it's 87 and 122 with Syntronik1 Deluxe and Bonus Content,
SAM: it's 87 and 170 with Syntronik1 Deluxe and Bonus Content,

May be with Syntronik 2 or Syntronik 2 MAX you have the Bonus Content but i don't think you can have this bonus with Syntronik 2 CS or SE versions

If someone can confirm!

Thanks for the correction. I did a quick cut-and-paste from my chart and mistyped the labels. I actually use G1 and G2 in my chart to refer to the Generations as listed in the Syntronik 2 User Interface.

You are correct. The order of the columns should read:

Code: Select all
#   Instrument   G1   G2   Wave Sets     TOTAL   IK CHART

where G1 = old and G2 = new.

Over the past two days I reinstalled Syntronik on an older PC that cannot run Syntronik 2. At one point I had Syntronik 2 CS (not SE, full, or MAX) installed but it didn't run properly. I ended up removing both programs.

It makes sense that the older Syntronik on the old PC may have picked up those higher numbers because I had the all the instrument parts and bonus content installed.

Since they came from the Syntronik zip file downloads, I don't think it is related to Syntronik 2 SE, full or MAX.

It could be that since I have licenses for for both Syntronik and Syntronik Deluxe, my downloads included the Bonus Content for the 17 non-Deluxe instruments. So, the bottom line is, maybe people should contact support to ask if they have all the presets they paid for.

Thanks for the clarifications!!!

UPDATE: The J-8 WS column should be 38, not 0. The spreadsheet cell I used had gotten changed to an empty cell.

I have edited the post to change the column heading and added the 38 for the J-8 WS.

Off-topic:
ou mentioned Bonus Content with Syn1 Deluxe. Where did you get that from? I do not recall seeing it anywhere. Nor do I see any Multis installed with Syn1
