I know everyone is all about Tonex at this point. I have two of them myself: the original and the anniversary model. So I get it.
I also have all of the X-Gear pedals. I’ve had them for years. They’re good, but they’ve never really felt ‘finished’ to me in terms of usability. The preset editing process is a slog on the physical controls, particularly when you go into the Parameters. I really wish IK had done dual-function knobs across the pedal instead of making you click through with one. And editing in AmpliTube, while it removes the clicking slog, is deeply sub-optimal. That’s because I have to dial the pedal in using an AmpliTube amp, plug it into my amp, and then…dial it in again. An editor is sorely lacking.
I know IK has abandoned these pedals. I am not expecting them to throw development resources at an editor for products that have been discontinued. When I bought them all years ago, I foolishly figured an editor had to be coming eventually, just as one did for Tonex. I was clearly mistaken.
I think there are enough specs in the manuals (though I hadn’t bothered to look at them much before) to write an editor. Is that right? If not, is there any chance IK would share spec with the community so someone can finish the job? Better yet, has someone already written a rudimentary editor they’re sharing? I don’t need to have photorealistic controls. I just want to be able to dial in presets with the amp I’m plugged into.
