Transatlantic Colabration

Hello everyone. This is a collaboration between Dan and me. Dan plays the drums. This is my first time producing live drums.

Hey Riff,

What a cool colab dude, very nicely done by both of you and I also want to point out how cool it is that we have new collaboration partners on this forum. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Riff, your arrangements with this style are beautiful, it always pulls my in ear to listen more strongly which is always a good thing!

The live drums are very well mixed and produced into the song, I feel it makes a real difference hearing real soul playing the skins and feeling the rhythm and vibe.

Dan, it’s nice to hear you playing a different vibe and tempo and it sounds amazing.

Well done guys, I hope the contract includes a few more?

Cheers CS.

Hey Riff Lovely,

Riff Lovely, you did a great job on the mix. It was a lot of fun working on the song with you. To CS’s point, let’s keep the colabs going. It will keep us growing as musicians.

Thanks man

Dan

Riff_lovely and danwilson5,

Curious what language the lyrics are in. Vocal style is good, though a bit pitchy at times. I recommend some pitch correction (I like Melodyne best), if you don’t already have it. Otherwise, I think everything sounds very good. I know from experience it is difficult to mic real drums, and your drums sound good to me. Nice audio quality all around, and nice song!

Thanks aarona. Dan Wilson miked up and recorded the drums, and he did an excellent job. I added a bit of EQ and a few effects. The song is in Croatian. I might post a translation sometime soon.

Thanks, Dan. I really enjoyed mixing the drums, especially since you did such a top-notch job on them. You’re absolutely right about collaborations—I think they’re great.

Hi All,

Just to clarify something about the drums. I didn’t mic and record my acoustic kit, I used a Yamaha electronic kit to record my playing as midi into my computer/ DAW and then use superior drummer 3 to produce the audio. I would love to record my drums but my music room is way too small to record an acoustic kit and I have neighbours :joy: . In the grand scheme of things it’s like playing a midi keyboard and using Pianoverse VST to play a steinway or Yamaha C7. I like SD3 because the audio out is raw making it fun to mix using the plugins we all have from IK. So in a way it is like being in a studio.

I just wanted to set the “record” straight by not taking credit that I don’t deserve.

Dan

Record set straight, you know how to rock!!

ou, i think that was acustics drums, ok, anyway excellent job
