Tonex Cab AUX In

Hi

Just bought the Tonex Cab and have tried a few USB C to 1/4" cables to play backing tracks through the AUX input. They didn’t output the audio.

Has anyone got a successful setup with an android phone ?

USB-C is a digital protocol. The auxiliary input is analog. What kind of cable are you using which has USB-C on one end and either a 1/4" plug or an XLR-male connector on the other? Is there a converter in the middle somewhere?

If you are trying to run audio out of a phone, you’ll either need to use some type of DAC dongle to connect to the phone, and then you can run analog out from there, you can just use the headphone jack (if there is one), or you can use a mobile-friendly audio interface. Just bear in mind that the signal coming out of a phone will be stereo (two channels of audio, left and right) and I’m not sure whether the auxiliary input on the TONEX Cab is a stereo input. The manual doesn’t really say, and I don’t have mine yet-- it’s on order, so I can’t confirm.

If that’s a stereo input, then it’s far easier. You can just use a TRS cable with 3.5mm (aka 1/8") stereo male on one end and 6.35mm (aka 1/4") stereo male on the other. If it’s simply a balanced mono combo input, then you’ll need to convert it to mono first, or get an 1/8" stereo to 1/4" mono cable.

Maybe someone from IK can chime in with the auxiliary input specifications.

Thanks very much for the additional information. I had bought a few cables online which didn’t work although they allegedly had a DAC component. I purchased a valuable from Amazon which is now working fine.

For info I had a USB C to RCA cable that worked great on my Yamaha DXR10. I tried a RCA to 1/4" adapter and this doesn’t seem to work due to the stereo format. I think the AUX IN is Mono only.
