Summary:
Big knob needs to control master output volume
Problem / Use Case:
I use my ToneX-One pedal as an interface in bypass mode. It would be a huge quality of life upgrade if the vol/gain knob controlled the master output. It’s a real hassle doing it in software when you’re trying to mix something. Plus when switching audio sources (DAW to web browser) you can get blasted by volume jumps and having that big knob to reach for before alt/tabbing over would help save my ears. It just seems like a glaring omission honestly.
Proposed Solution:
Enable the big knob be assigned to control volume at various point in the chain, from input trim to tone capture gain to master output volume, per preset or forbidding that a global setting. If it is a global setting option I would set it to master out and be happy.
Priority / Impact:
High (it’s the one feature I need to be able to use the tonex-one as my only compact interface)
Im using a minilab 3 to control all amp Permeameters, as well as the compressor while playing live, I could also control all of the effects too if I wanted to, you just need a pirate midi polar mini so the tonex one can accept midi commands.
never bend over again except to save your preset…
But is there a master out assignable parameter while being used as an interface? There doesn’t seem to be a way to control the USB return volume at all, let alone assign a midi controller to it via a third party device. The pirate midi stuff does seem cool but master volume output is basic on-board functionality of any USB interface. I see it as a big oversight but maybe the interface use case is so minor they didn’t think it worth it to bother?
I hope if the rumors about a “+” version with midi ports is true, they will take the opportunity to add midi over USB to the existing model firmware and include this MASTER OUT VOLUME ASSIGN to whatever knob butters our bread.
The usb drivers asio is not a mixer control center from what I can tell, also the tonex edit cant control the asio driver either i.e. trim, out etc. in windows going to the driver properties the line in’s and outs are greyed out…
see ss..
Also Tonex One is not midi, you need pirate midi polar mini to have the peddle b midi even then once using the pirate midi the usbc port is used to sync and you will not beble to use the tonex one as a audio driver
