(wrongly posted on another thread)
The “Related topics” section should be Collapsed by default and only expanded if the user clicks it (or some icon). At the moment, I keep scrlling down to it, thinking it contains more relevant info, but it doesn’t.
Also, the red text used for links etc is not very clear / easy to read on a dark background.
And, I have not yet found a way to add a screenshot. Nor indeed a forum user guide
The topic lists should be collapsed too; the avatar and lines of text force a lot of scrolling to see the topic titles. Include the originator’s forum name instead.
And I do not wish to be notified if someone rpelies to my thread or post or quotes me. I cannot see a Preference for this.
I will look into collapsing at least the “blurb” after the title of each related topic (and topics listed in each category). Edit - cleaned up the topic listings to have less fluff taking up space.
Changed the link color to a better color/contrast for both light and dark modes (but the hover remains the IK color palette’s value).
You can click the image icon and upload your screenshot directly now (that’s been built into this forum software from the go - much more user friendly).
I will check out the notification preferences (you can currently mute thread notifications, though). Edit - you should see these options when you click your avatar in the upper right hand side of the interface, go to Preferences (last icon in the dropdown then Preferences and find these settings under “Emails”),
Thank you. The topic list looks much cleaner -maybe you can add the original poster too (name or avatar). And I have now spotted the “Upload” button.
Regarding the left-hand sidebar: I think it would be better for the Categories to be higher up (see attached).
, And the Tags section could get overwhelming if lots of people start adding tags.
Comments: There was not much room to type this reply - it was only by accident I saw the small dark bar at the top of the window. Also, I went to “Full screen composer” to continue typing then closed that and it looked like I had lost my reply.
This is how the left nav list looks for normies:
Oh and you can copy/paste images into posts/replies as well which is another couple of miles ahead of the previous software thankfully. For me, in my “normie” account, the reply box looks like this and can be stretched upward with the top handle:
Got it. Maybe on the menu, Review, Admin and Invite can be moved into More, as I don’t expect they will be used as often as the others.
I’ll have to look at whether those staff-only options are listed in bulk or if it can be handled in a more surgical fashion.
Peter,
Regarding the Notification choices: I have just created a FAQ and here are the notification choices available:
If I do not want any notifications, I can selected Muted, but then I will not see the topic in “latest” if anyone replies. It would be handy if there a choice between Normal and Muted, with no notifications but still listed in Latest.
Also, I could not see how to preview a post before submitting it.
Best would be to set the second item here in your user preferences
The WYSIWYG post/reply window is a live preview. If you choose Markdown mode the preview should show up on the side.
