It might be because I’m used to phpbb, but this new forum’s UI is inefficient in my opinion

Suggests

1. Add pages in topic

Infinite vertical scrolling makes my finger tired, and also bad for accessibility

Because of the nature of the thread system, it’s obvious that people will flock only to a particular topic

As you can see.. there are 200+ reples and need tons of scroll for reading while going backward

2. Make standalone search page

This problem continues from the previous problem

Search also requires lots of scrolls because of no page

3. Separate search bar

Search bar search both ‘all topics’ and ‘this topic only’

In my opinion, ideal search bar should be separated as shown above

• Search for all topics
• Search in current topic only

4. Make overall UI denser

New forum looks great but there are some unnecessary spaces

Little bit of modification will be fine

1. Discourse does not use pagination as it is a more modern design paradigm focused on discussions and not hunting for pages etc. There is a very useful timeline on the right on desktop browsers and if you tap the button with the post number your’re viewing on mobile. From there you can easily go anywhere you’d like in a conversation.
2. https://forum.ikmultimedia.com/search is there if you don’t like the current search.
3. I don’t quite understand - you can type your query and choose either the current topic or the whole forum quick quickly and easily.
4. Where specifically is there space that you feel could be tightened up? Personally I thought the forum theme might have been a bit too busy, personally.

Since I’ve frequently visit forums using that legacy style, I had the stereotype that forums should be similar to phpBB

It’s definitely not a modern design (and also not a modern framework)

What made the whole forum feel sparse was the Air Theme used here

Air Theme has relatively more margin than the other themes

Adjusting this setting makes it look much better
