A new song with some Tonex guitar to check out! Will return the favor!

I put a new song in my music website called “You Have It Made”; it is the song on top. The rhythm guitars during the chorus use (Alex Lifeson) Tonex guitar amp modeling; and so does some of the lead guitar. Please tell me how you like the song, how it can be improved, and I will return the favor (leave me a link if you don’t have a recent thread). Here is my link:

Hey Aaronaardvark,

Like the track man. the bottom end is sumptuous. Since you asked about improvements, and remember these are only my opinions…

There seems to be a line in the sand between the backing tracks and the guitars and vocals. The backing tracks are present but the guitars and vocals seem to be behind them. Sorry I can’t think of a better way to describe it.

For the vocals specifically, I had a hard time distinguishing the lyrics maybe a slight boost in the 2-4kHz range may help (1-2dB at most). I don’t think the vocals need to be louder or the saturation changed, because of the song style, but slight boost in the range above will make it easier to understand the lyric.

For the guitar, I am digging the ambient style, but maybe try a little pre-delay on the verb to bring the guitar forward in the mix (20msec???). I found it a little too far back in the mix. Compared to the bed tracks.

Once again these are only my opinions and are probably best ignored because overall I really dug the track.

danwilson5,

Thank you for checking out my song and reviewing it! I appreciate it! Yes, the synths were taking up a lot of frequencies. Sometimes it’s a difficult compromise to mix something and to have everything sound good.
