Hiwatt DR 103

Hi. I am using Amplitube 4 in my ipad and would like to use a Hiwatt DR103 amp. I understand that the Hiamp would do the job but I cannot find it in the Store that I access through the app. Where should I look for it? Or has the Hiamp been replaced by a newer version? Which one would that be? Thanks for your help!

Hi, the Hi-amp is not available on AmpliTube iOS. It is available for Mac/PC. You can find the available gear in AmpliTube iOS here: https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/a ... php?p=gear

Just chiming in, here ....

Honestly, I don't think there is a real substitute for the desktop HiAmp (i.e. HiWatt DR103) model in the iOS version of Amplitube. The HiAmp/Watt and its matching cab (an important part of the overall vibe!) are fairly distinctive, IMO.

That said, if it were me, I'd probably try either the JH Gold or the OR 120 models (both, I think, available in iOS), if only because they are also "British"-style amps from the same period as the HiWatt, and if I were a real guitar player in 1970 or whatever and my HiWatt weren't available, then a Marshall or Orange might be, and I would do my best with whatever I had to work with!

The OR 120 can be confusing at first, if you are used to Marshal/Fender-style EQ sections, but there are lots of videos on YouTube that talk about how "real" OR 120s work, and the Amplitube model works pretty much the same way. So, those can be useful!

Yes, that OR-120 is amazing. I missed it while we had that 1970s OR-120 in the US office. It is a beast of a head, a nice specimen of an already great line (the unit we have, now in Italy) is an absurdly good OR-120 and we of course have the skills to make sure all was running correctly.
