Tutorial - Installing Total studio 2 on Windows 10.

I bought the Total Studio 2 bundle and since i had some issues with the installation at first I would like to share what I learned and how I made the installation without any errors.

Step 1:
Download the Authorization manager.
https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/authorizationmanager//
Run the manager and input your serials. Nothing will show up on your product page before you do this step.

Step 2:
Download all files from your user area: https://www.ikmultimedia.com/userarea/my-products/

Download and install every program file

There are both sound libraries and resources for every instrument. Keep a good folder structure in the directory you download everything to. That makes it easy to keep track of what you have downloaded and what is left. Compare the files you have downloaded with the files on the list so nothing is missing in the end.

If you want to have your SampleTank library on another drive. Update the settings in SampleTank before next step. Every installer gets the path from the setting in SampleTank. Make sure that the library does not have a very long name and path (to not run into the "File path to long" error. (My library is located at E:\IK Multimedia library\SampleTank 3\ and that works just fine)

Step 3:
Unzip the zip-files to a temporary installation folder near the root of your drive. (As an example I used D:\I\[name_of_folder] as folder for each zip-file).
It is very important that the installation folder is near the root. The installers are sensitive for the "File path too long" error.

Tip: Using 7-Zip to extract files gives you some more options and lets you select the folder you want to extract all folders to and that every zip-file gets its own folder. It is also faster than the standard extractor in Windows.

Step 4:
Run the installer for every folder. To keep track of the ones already installed i deleted the extracted folders after each installation. The installer is in fact faster than I thought and I did get everything installed in a few hours.

Step 5:
Run all programs (SampleTank, Miroslav and Syntronik) to update the database for each.

Step 6:
Make music! :D

I hope that IK Multimedia can make a installation manager in the near future, but while we all wait for that I hope that this tutorial can be of help to those who need it. The installation is really worth the effort and Total bundle 2 is a gold mine in sound.

Thanks for your post, sorry to hear of your troubles here. We're glad to hear you got everything working and we appreciate the time you've spent typing out the info.

The latest Authorization Manager will include a newly updated Authorization & Installation guide. If anyone has trouble with getting set up this can be found here.

I can say in the meantime we are looking into an updated Authorization Manager. While I don't have any concrete info for you guys, I can say signing up for the IK news letter would be the best place to hear of new developments.
