SKmultimediaST@ wrote:So when is the usb going to be released, and will it be free from all of the problems that many (download) users are experiencing with corrupted data? Seems like there are a lot of issues out there.

USB sticks should be shipping, and will not have corrupted files of course. There will be three things on them: The installer for SampleTank 4 itself, the installer for the sound libraries (a single installer), and the supporting sound libraries for the latter.

With regard to the last sentence, please see the list I reposted above, that is the true list of the issues. I know it is frustrating to run into some issues, that is not taken lightly so any outstanding issues are being fixed, any (around half the list) that aren't global issues are being handled directly with the people who are having the issues.

It will be all the sounds and effects that take the ram.

8 gig is the minimum nowadays for upmarket programs.
This is why i purchase a machine with 32 gig put in.
12 to 16 gig of ram is the norm now :P
Advice for anyone who is serious with music
Get the best for the job as you get what you always pay for.
You can get great computers under £2000

That's well and good but the product is advertised as 4 GIG OF RAM AS THE MIN. and suggest 8gigs of ram, which I have. I am using the suggested specs. This is an advertising issue possibly. In what world does ST4 work with only 4 gigs of ram when it barely runs on 8 gigs and in my case, doesn't currently run at all ??? :x

See this quote from a user with no issue of the sort, the product seems to be spec'd correctly (note that's minimum, by the way, recommended is 8) and please continue to work with IK Support to get your specific issues resolved (and if you have an issue with their reply, that is where you should reply to them to state that):

Now with that said, having multiple instances of the plugin running with the full Red Strat instrument could be problematic. There are LOTS of instruments that are a lot smaller, but ST4 should not consume anywhere near 8GB "on start up". That has not been my experience. I'm running the plugin on Studio One 4.

Hi Peter, I am actually still waiting for a response from support to a ticket I submitted over the weekend, I think on Sat.. Because I have not heard from them.. there is no way to "continue" to work with them. I am simply left to read what others are seeing and hearing. and yes, I have the suggested amount of Ram. that was my whole point.

They will answer your ticket soon, I'm sure. That is where you'd need to work out technical issues as this forum is not a medium for direct technical support.

My whole point was that this appears to be a very specific issue, noting the other quote with a user having SampleTank 4 working well within minimum spec which is why tech support is the way to go. I'm sure they'll get it sorted for you.

Well, on my MacBook running OS 10.11.6 ST4 takes round about 1.8 GB for Loading the app, which is fine. Loading a big Piano ends up round about 3GB, as reported before. Thats also fine, so i believe that 8GB Ram will be fine.

Computers with little cpu power are more likely to get a problem with the fx section, because it demands a lot of power, depending on the effect.

My only problem is my MacBook with Mac OS 10.10.5 which loads many sounds incorrectly.
The loading process stops and the ram is filled. If this is used up memory is used on the hard disk. This ends only when you finish the st4 process or st4 crashes. In the worst case the whole system crashes due to lack of memory.

Basically st4 works, just not with every computer, for whatever reason.
The support has my problem and I hope there is a solution. If not I try to install a system update, in the hope that it then runs correctly, as on my other computer with a higher system version.

I think they will find solutions for most people, but maybe not for everyone, there are too many exceptions in the many computers out there.

When I think back to the time when we were still making music without computer, we also have problems. broken cables, amplifiers, annoying neighbors because of the noise ... :D

I think the guys are doing a good job that I respect a lot, but I also understand when you're disappointed because it does not work the way you expected.

The more detailed one reports to the support, the better they can fix the problem.

Quick report of memory usage running Windows 10, VST2 in Reaper:

I have an eight-instrument multi set up (on 8 different midi channels) - all ST4 instruments. Task manager reports 3.8 gig for everything, including Reaper.

That seems reasonable...

Tom

Could you please place here a screen loaded into the Reaper 4 separate ST4 with any pianos with activated recording and the image of the load manager. I am very interested to see your result clearly. Thank you very much!

Please work with (or continue to work with) IK Support on your memory issue. Other users are welcome to share screenshots to show how SampleTank 4 is working on their system but that will be a far cry from direct and official technical support from IK Support toward the best result of fixing your issues.

Re: SampleTank 4 Now Available!

Postby dakfat » Wed Feb 27, 2019 2:14 am

Hi all, I finished downloading SampleTank 4 yesterday, and I am experiencing the triple copy of each preset bug that some people are seeing.

I owned sampleTank 3 at some point and I completely stopped using it because it would crash all the time. I take good care of my machine and reformat from time to time and make sure not to install junk, but I just could not get sampleTank 3 not to crash even after several fresh installs...
I tried to work it out with support but to no avail. I had this problem with Miroslav 2 as well but not with Syntronik. I figured this would not be an issue with sampletank 4, but alas it also crashes on me. I have many other romplers and samplers and vsts, and Sampletank is the only one that will not behave on my machine..

Hi
I too had crashing of sampletank 3 and no fix from support.
If i put a few instruments in ,it would buzz and then crash.
When i used mixcraft it said there was an error in the sampletank engine.
I gave up putting tickets in as there was always another question followed by another question.
That computer i had went bonk.
I had another made by pc specialist here in uk and it has worked ok.
I had one standalone crash though.
I hope when all the fuss is over Sampletank 4 behaves itself.
Nowadays you really need a fast machine or you get left behind.
