Using 1 Instance for 16 MIDI Ch.s

Postby gplea » Mon Feb 25, 2019 5:15 pm

I've just discovered that ST3.7 doesn't allow me to use just 1 instance of ST3 to assign 16 Ch.s from Sonar or any DAW to that 1 instance that's using 16 different channels. That kind of seems like it's defeating the purpose of ST3 being multitimbral if I have to create a different instance for every ch. I use and it certainly uses WAAY too much power from my CPU. Where am I going wrong here? I swear I don't remember having to do this before.
Thanks,

If I understand you correctly, it all works here.

What are the details of the exact problem that you run into?

Thanks Darkstar,

Well, in both Studio One and Sonar BandLab I'm finding that when I create 8 Instr tracks of ST3.7 that instead of getting ONE instance where I create ever how many MIDI tracks (or Instrument tracks) that it's creating the same # of instances as I have of tracks. So, I don't get 16 separate MIDI tracks going to the same instance of ST3.7 using all of the 16 parts of a Multi independently. Make sense?

Thanks,

It's the same for me as it is for DarkStar. Multitimbral use from one instance.

I don't use Studio One, so can't give you specific help, but here's an answer from Presonus website. It's a bit old, but may be of use.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for those videos garfy. It wasn't exactly what I was thinking but I figured out that I just need 1 Instrument track for the VST, and pure MIDI tracks for ever how many tracks I need. MUCH lighter on the CPU. The beautiful part is I can actually use my FaderPort8 with that.

I need to get that Orchestral Percussion module. Something made my workstation keybd preamp. It won't produce any sounds, but the action still feels great.

Tanx Again,
