T-Rack5 Dithering options

Postby SalvoM » Wed Nov 28, 2018 2:48 pm

Hi all,

I'm a new T-Rack user and just finished my track, I was wondering regarding Dithering which I see T-rack has 4 types:

RPDF
TPDF
Shape 1
Shape 2

I presume the shape ones are what Ozone calls Type 1 and 2, and between RPDF and TPDF the last one should give better results. Anyway my question is: Is there an explanation when to use them from IK Multimedia? I had a look at T-Rack 5 Manual and I didn't find anything about them.

PS: in Project Properties. Pls correct " Clip Ouptut to 0 dB"

Regards

Hi, please note that the T-RackS team has answered with the following information about the T-RackS dithering options:

1. RPDF is the technical name that stands for "Rectangular Probability Density Function”

2. TPDF is the technical name that stands for “Triangular Probability Density Function”

3. Shape 1 is a custom IK dither, similar to the Pow-R1 and Pow-R2.

4. Shape 2 is a custom IK dither, similar to the Pow-R3.

Where:

POW-R #1 is optimized for low dynamic range program material, such as highly compressed pop music
POW-R #2 is optimized for less complex program material, such as spoken word
POW-R #3 is optimized for complex, high dynamic range program material, such as an orchestral performance

Can that info be added to the next update of the T-RackS user Manual (2.1.5)?
