AmpliTube 4 preset automation in Logic Pro X

Postby rommel.andriotti » Thu Nov 01, 2018 12:57 pm

Hi guys!
I use Logic Pro X for recording songs and playing live. It's crucial to set up preset automation so I can focus on playing in the gigs. However, I'm having trouble finding out how to do it with amplitube 4 connected as a plugin to Logic Pro X. I've searched a lot and didn't find a clear tutorial about how to do it. Can you guys help me, please? It's essencial that the automation works with monitor on, because of the live situations. Thank you very much!

Hello rommel.andriotti

Automation can be handled by assigning specific parameters in AT so the host, in your case Logic, can see them.

If you have a look in the AT4 User Guide, there are detailed instructions on how to set this up in chapter 14, starting at page 84.

As a quick step-by-step -

1) Right click on the element/control you want to automate e.g. volume pedal
2) Highlight/select Assign Automation>Volume>Param 1
3) Assign an automation track in Logic to Param 1
4) Automation can now be recorded/drawn and played back

Hope that helps.

This is the kind of thing for which an official "how to" video, just a couple of minutes long, might well help a lot of people.

Garfy, thanks for the reply. Surprinsingly, i'm trying to find the AT4 User Guide online and I'm not finding it. Can you please share it with us, so I can try to follow your instructions accordingly? Thanks again. Bye.

User manuals are available for all IK software in your User Area.

Click on Download Resources next to the product you want the guide for and you'll find the PDF.

Hope that helps.

The USer Manual also gets installed when you install the software.

Thanks for your attention and answers!
You see, I have Amplitube Max, which I got via crossgrade. There is no download resources next to it (although, indeed, other products have). I also looked for the manual on the files installed in the computer with amplitube and couldn't find. Any ideas of what I should do?

I can't remember the default location where the User Manual gets put during installation unfortunately. I tend to move all my manuals into one folder in my documents for less hunting around when I need them. Someone may be along with that info.

And you are correct - there aren't any resources to download for MAX. However, if you scroll down to Amplitube Custom Shop in your products (the free one) the resources can be downloaded here, which covers everything in the MAX package.

In order to view the User Manual, you must install and/or register the software with us.

Once registered, you can view/download the User Manual from your User Area > My Products > product name > PDF Manuals.

Once installed, a .PDF manual is installed on your hard drive in the below locations..

For Mac:
Mac HD > Library > Documentation > IK Multimedia > (product name) >

For PC:
C: > Program Files > IK Multimedia > (product name) >

FAQ ID: 823
