How to use AmpliTube with iphone and a guitar amp

I wanted to plug a guitar into iPhone or iPad with Amplitube and plug into a guitar cabinet via a power amp. Adapter cables and other systems seem to introduce too much noise to be usable for anything other than practice.
I found the best way is to use a USB interface to plug guitar and phone into and then plug the interface into the amp using a 1/4” cable and not headphone or 1/8” cables. Computer based interfaces are best.
Guitar into interface, iPhone into interface via thunderbolt cable.
Interface into power amp into cabinet.
Somehow the iPhone output works via the interface and doesn’t get plugged directly into the cabinet.
Connected this way, Amplitube sounds amazing!

Personally, I use either the iRig HD 2 or iRig Stomp I/O for this type of live use. These products both offer direct 1/4" outputs for use with amplifiers or mixing boards.
