The Classic MB Limiter is a throwback to the early releases of T-Racks, nearly 20 years ago, although I seem to recall that it was only single-band originally. I don't think it was modelled on any specific piece of hardware as it was an all-in-one standalone and not available as individual modules until later versions. It was designed to emulate some of the sonic properties of analogue processing in digital format, which IK were at the forefront of at the time and probably based on multiple pieces of hardware. Someone with better info may be able to put me right about this though.

I'll bullet point the differences that I can make out, but there's probably more:
Option to have 2, 3 or 4 individual bands
Individual attack and release controls for each band
Ability to specify the steepness of the crossover filters
Ability to solo or bypass individual bands
A 'master' brick wall limiter at the end of the signal chain, in case of stray peaks
Can be used as stereo or M/S processor
It more than likely sounds different, but I've never investigated
