Bass Slides - Up and Down

Hey guys,

Can't for the life of me figure out how to make this work...I overlapped the note, set the CC to 119...it kinda works a bit, then it doesn't for notes coming down...it's super frustrating. Anyone have any tips or info on how to make this properly? As it stands, playing an actual bass is 190 times faster and sounds better than what this thing is doing...

Have you tried Legato Slide? This is covered in Chapter 10 of the MODO BASS User Manual (if you are not aware of manual locations on your system please review the FAQ at http://www.ikmultimedia.com/faq/2497 for more information).

When this articulation is activated, the slide is also triggered when playing legato. In this case the speed of the slide follows the target note velocity. The higher the velocity of the target not, the faster the slide. This usually requires a little practice to get used to the correlation between velocity and speed.

You would use the MIDI CC assigned to the Legato Slide and while you have that engaged (many use the sustain pedal which is CC 64) you play the first note then, while holding the first you play the target note at a velocity which will control the speed of the slide. This can also be programmed with any decent DAW MIDI editor/timeline/piano roll too.

Don't forget you can also use the pitch wheel to do slides, but you'll want to set the range to an octave or so. It seems the slides are quantized to semitones but don't retrigger notes, so it really does sound like you're sliding over the frets.

Hi, I bought a sustain pedal to use for slides. I'm trying to do a quick A-E slide on the first string. If I depress the pedal and hit the two notes, it sounds great. However, when I play it back in my daw (Studio One 4), it plays as individual notes. I have tried overlapping the notes by editing, but it still doesn't sound right. I also tried using the pitch wheel, but that didn't sound right either. I tried changing the settings in MODO BASS to assign the legato slide to a knob or fader on my controller (M-Audio Oxygen 49), but I could not get it to recognize it. The other thing, when I'm in the edit section of the daw, the articulations are not showing at the bottom. Help!
