Miroslav Philharmonik 2 CE - No Instruments [Resolved]

Postby kevindpdx » Mon Apr 23, 2018 2:27 am

Hello,

Just bought Miroslav Philharmonik 2 CE. Went through the installation process including the MP2CE Sound Updater - seemed to go OK, but I can't find the sound files and they don't show up in the standalone app. :(

Help!

Hey Kevin,

Make sure you have your sound content downloads from your the User Area -> My Products section (https://www.ikmultimedia.com/userarea/) of your IK Multimedia account. These are separate from your software downloads, or sound content updater downloads, and will be listed under the Miroslav Philharmonik 2 CE 'Sounds Downloads' drop down menu.

*The 'Sounds Downloads' drop down can contain multiple files here, so be sure to get all downloads listed for your products.

Thanks!

I have the sound files now, but when I try to install them, the installer fails saying "Installation aborted. Cannot create the destination folder." This occurs even when I've tried directing the installer to these folders:
C:\Program Files\IK Multimedia
C:\Program Files\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 3
C:\Program Files\IK Multimedia\Miroslav Philharmonik 2

I ran the Sound Updater before all of this (mistaking that for the sound files installer) - could that have screwed things up?

Thanks for your help!

It is probably not a good move to put the Sounds Library into a "Program Files" folder. Those folders (and a few others) are now protected by Windows.

Run the sounds installers but select, say, "C:/Sounds/IK Multimedia" or "C:/Sounds/IK Multimedia/SampleTank 3" (or another disk entirely). You may need to create that folder first, I do not know. I would not think that running the Sounds Updater first has caused any hiccoughs as there was no library to update at that stage.

DarkStar does have a point here. Our default path is listed below. We suggest using this path to avoid any unusual issues.

Windows
C:\Users\Public\Documents\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 3

Mac
Users > Shared > IK Multimedia > SampleTank 3

That path did the trick! And that folder was already there so somehow I misdirected the program.
Thanks so much for your help!

That folder is where Some of the product software and support files are installed. Not the MP2 Library.

When you installed the MP2 Library what folder did you select as the destination?
And, do you have ST3 (Any edition) installed?

Hi - thank you for the response

the default folder "C:\Program Files\IK Multimedia\Miroslav Philharmonik 2" is what came up

I do not have any ST3 editions installed - from what I understand this MP 2is a stand alone engine.

So I am thinking I need to create a folder in cakewalk at the VST files and send there?

Hmm, OK. That's rather an odd default folder for the Sounds Library installer to offer; "Program Files" (and "Windows" and some Registry entries) are protected by Windows and should not be used for these sorts of files. Anyway, no damage done.

I would create a folder, such as "C:/Sample Libraries/IK Multimedia" or on another disk. Or alongside any other sample libraries that you have. Then install the MP2 sounds library (there are several download files to do) into there.

Open MP2 (standalone or plug-in) and in the Preference Setting select that folder. That should do it. If not, then let us know the size of the contents of the folder and if there are sub-folders for MP2 in "Instruments" and "Samples".

For reference, 3 main folder locations are used:
-- one for the standalone program, user manual and a few other files.
-- one for the MP2 sounds library,
-- one for each type of plug-in installed.

All is rocking!.. thank you for the great advice and help--I am thinking I need to move all of my samples out of the C/program routing as well.

thanks again --it worked stand alone and with Sonar platinum

Turn it to ELEVEN

Good Oh!.

I put all my sample libraries on a different disk so that I can do a disk image back-up of the system disk without backing up umpteen GB of samples each time.

If you are on OSX (Sierra) you could try this:
When unzipped, the downloads are corrupt on OSX (Sierra)
The standard unzip program on my Mac did not unzip the files correctly, so there was nothing to install. Support recommended this unzip program: http://www.kekaosx.com/en/
