sample tank custom shop not free? [Resolved]

Postby KlausWalker77 » Sun Jan 14, 2018 10:23 pm

I already have the amplitube 4 and need a keyboard vst, so I downloaded the “Sample tank custom shop” vst which is supposed to be free. After I authorizing it I tried using but was surprised to see that it consists of just one piano sound. On the IK multimedia page it was written that there would be 30 instruments to choose from like organs, strings…
Totally dissapointed…I opened up the custom shop hoping to get access to other sounds but when I did I saw a request which said I have to pay 10 Euros for a “sounds download reactivation credit” which was expired. The extra sounds were called “The grid”

I’m really upset, why do I have to pay for a so called free vst package?

I think I must have got it wrong, I have to download the sounds from user area, right?
I'm doing it now but where do I install the files then?

Yes, there should be a file available in your user area called SampleTank Custom Shop Sound Content. Download that and let it install the files automatically. When you next open SampleTank it should update the instrument database and your free sounds will be available.

Please come back and confirm that this has resolved your issue, as it may help other users.

Thanks

Thanks, so you say the files will be installed automatically.
I didn't know abaut this downloading issue as it was not the case in Amplitube.

Once the file has downloaded you may need to unzip it (depending on your operating system), but basically install it as you would any other piece of software. It will suggest a default installation folder which, again, will be dependent on your OS. You will need to agree this and then it will do the rest automatically.

The difference with SampleTank is that there is a lot of extra sample data held separately to SampleTank itself.

Ok the files have been downloaded and installed and it works, thanks. Just one question, now that the instruments have been copied to respective folders I want to delete the files where I downloaded/unzipped them first on my computer. They take too much space. Might be a stupid question but I want to be sure :D

Yes, you can now delete the original download/zipped files. If you need to re-download them at anytime, because of hard drive failure or similar, they will still be in your user area.

If, in the future, you buy extra add-on packs from the Custom Shop you will notice that these will have an expiry date on them (just as you’ve seen on “The Grid” pack in your user area). It is advised that you back these ones up, otherwise (again as you’ve seen) you will be required to buy a download reactivation credit to get them again.

Seems like a good idea to back them up. Thanks again.
