Syntronic Missing electric piano.pac

Postby SLiC » Sun Jan 07, 2018 1:57 pm

when opening several presents such as electric piano in DCO-X software reports electric piano.pak missing. I have re-installed DCO-X part 1 and 2 with no errors and it shows electric piano 1, 2 and HD, but the pre-sets seem to be looking for just 'electric piano'

Is this a bug?

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Sorry, but I can’t replicate that here on MacOS so cannot confirm if it’s a bug.

Is Syntronik looking at the correct disk path? Are any other presets affected?

Part of the problem is errors when unzipping (and I am downloading several times but get the same unzip errors which I have to skip); everything is in the right folder (I have Sampletank 3) and everything installs OK and says it installed OK, its just a few specific .pak instruments (some of the .pak files it says are missing such as electric piano.pak seem to be there under other file names, such as electric piano 1, 2 and HD)

What OS are you on and what is doing the unzipping?

I’m not sure I quite follow this bit. The *.pak files are the samples that the presets use and should be located under SampleTank 3>Samples>Syntronik DCO-X>DCO-X Electric Piano.pak, whereas the Electric Piano 1,2 and HD are the actual preset names (which you see in the Syntronik GUI) which will be shown as *.st3i, in SampleTank 3>Instruments>Syntronik DCO-X>Factory>Electric Piano>[Presets].

If you can’t find the *.pak files then you may be correct that your unzip errors are the problem. Have you done a specific search for them?

Win 10 64 - just using the unzip built in to Windows. Several download attempts that seemed to download fine we’re giving repeatable unpacking errors.

Maybe try a different unzip app to test the theory. It’s been a while since I’ve used Windows, but I always had good results with WinRAR if that’s still a thing.

Did you manage to have a look at the file structure to see if the *.pak files were in the Samples folder?

Hey- Thanks for all your help.

I downloaded at work today and unzipped on my work PC without an issue, just re-ran the installers for the 2 I had issues with and its all there now. Weird that it downloaded twice as a complete zip with the same errors at home!

Anyway- Problem Solved, thanks again.

I'm curious - are your work and home PCs the same OS and Windows Update state?

Also, user an email address as your user account name could lead to your email getting collected by net bots and you may then get all sorts of "offers" from all over the web, for years. You can change it here:

Yup- Both Win 10, both had the latest updates- very strange :?: Anyway- all good now and enjoying the sounds.

Changed user name- thanks- hadn't realised it had taken my email address as a user name.
