iRig BlueBoard & WIN

Postby jpeltola » Thu Jan 05, 2017 5:41 pm

Hi,
I understood from the iRig BlueBoard specs that the device supports iOS devices as well as Mac computers with Bluetooth MIDI compatibility.

Since Windows 8 also Windows computers have been Bluetooth MIDI compatible. Are there any plans to expand the BlueBoard compatibility to cover also Windows operation systems?

Added to this, there is a micro USB connector in BlueBoard. If one would connect BlueBoard to a Windows computer as a USB device using a micro USB cable, would the Windows computer be able to recognise BlueBoard?

best,
Jari

I bought one before looking; because I assumed that there was no way there would not be support for Windows. I've NEVER had to double check to make sure Windows was compatible. That would be like checking to make sure the charger I was buying fit into the wall in the country I lived in. Is this a designer flaw or is your company just one of those companys with extra compasomes?

IK Multimedia. This is absolutely absurd. Don't pull a Blockbuster and ignore reality.

Edit: And you need a Windows computer to install the new firmware! Okay you got me. Solid April Fools joke. Now really how do I get this to work?

When iRig BlueBoard was released (and not until VERY recently) Windows did not support Bluetooth LE MIDI. iRig BlueBoard is designed as a wireless controller (the USB connection is only for updates) so it was designed and released as a wireless Bluetooth controller on platforms that supported that type of connection.

The request for Windows support has been relayed to the team.

I understand that, and I understand the reason why wireless without this specific driver (or whatever it is) latency issues make it not worth the trouble.

But it's a pedal board. We can put a man on the moon and give him a smartphone to stream porn from his spaceship but we can't have a bluetooth pedal give a single command at the press of a button?

Well, not yet I would say. Since the functionality has been added to Windows recently, I have relayed this request to the appropriate people here for their consideration.

I would LOVE to be able to run two Blueboards, while we're at it! I was under the impression that multiple bluetooth couldn't be done, but

Maybe not: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201171
