TONEX EXPRESSION PEDAL

I would like to use an expression pedal to control the volume on the tonex. I would like to do swells and maintain the trails after I volume down on patches with effects and patches that are just amp to cut volume when im not playing. How do I do this? What would you recommend as an expression pedal. I have the Boss EV3 Dual expression on my big board, would that work?
