Getting unable to run Philharmonik2.vpa error

Do I need to let it install the older Auth manager and Customer shop versions for it to run ?

You may have run into the "VPA problem". As I understand it the latest MP2 installer (v2.0.6?) does not install one essential file. Go to your User Area / My Products for MP2, click on [Past Releases], download and install v2.0.5. After that, install v2.0.6 (you can get that version there too).

I've run into the VPA problem too--so how do I access the past releases? I'm not seeing any way to do that. Yes, I've got the 2.0.6 version on it right now. This is kind of crushing because I just got a full install of it after not being able to months ago. Are they going to fix this DLL VPA problem soon? Thanks in advance for your help!

Didn't my post above help you find v2.0.5?

Thanks for the quick reply DarkStar--I don't see any "Past Releases" to click on anywhere in my software section of the Product Manager. I clicked on the release notes but that just outlines changes made to 2.0.5 that crashed...Is there somewhere else where I should be looking?

Hey DarkStar--thanks for your patience and going the extra mile to help me out. I got a really quick reply from support and it looks like I was running an old version of the IK product manager so I wasn't seeing that page at all. I appreciate the link, support outlined everything I needed to do including downloading the 2.0.5 without my antivirus on which apparently might be causing the glitch. Then running the update after seeing if it works outside my DAW. But you already know that. So I assume your username is in reference to the Dead song? One of my favorites of theirs! Appreciate your help! So jazzed that I'll be able to get the Philharmonik 2 running-yesssss!

I am glad that you have got it sorted out.

But ...
-- as far as I know, the IKPM does not have a link to [Past Releases],
-- I doubt that it is an antivirus that is causing the VPA glitch as loads of users have reported the problem and, if it were, then IKM should sort that out with the antivirus manufacturer(s),
-- Yes, it is from the Grateful Dead song - link in signature.

Do you know how random the .vpa issue is/was? In working on the Total Studio 3.5 MAX installation guide, I was about to make a little section for the .vpa error and how you can't just download v2.0.6.

The old (corrupt) flash drive IK gave me installed v2.0.5, so I didn't have any issues. Downloading v.2.0.6 straight from the IK Product Manager? .vpa issue.

New flash drive came in? Installed v.2.0.6 and I could open it without issue. No idea what's going on there unless they fixed the .vpa issue recently.

Sorry, no inside info.

My understanding is that v2.0.5 installs the "missing" VPA file so all subsequent installs of v2.0.6 would work.

Same issue here.

---------------------------
DLL error
---------------------------
Can't load e:\IK Multimedia\Miroslav Philharmonik 2\Philharmonik 2.vpa
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Surely this is worthy of a patch release (2.0.7) to fix this broken product!

The workaround above works, it's just annoying.

That would be something for IK Support. Have you reported the issue you were having?

How To get it running: Philharmonic 2

Postby Hectrosky » Wed Feb 12, 2025 8:16 pm

Hi everyone. I can confrm that after several days and with some advise from the support team, finally got up and running Philharmonic 2 by itself and within my DAW. So this is SOLVED for me.

3 things to be done:

1st thing you have to do, as you already know if you are up to this point, is to have or create a dedicated folder OUTSIDE of the common folders in windows, say Documents, Downloads, Pictures, etc. Creating one in just C: works very nice. E.g. C:/IK Multimedia or so.

2nd. Now you very probably can download the instrument (Philharmonic 2) and the Sounds for it which is like 50GB. All this data goes in the folder you created. Needless to say, during the installation process you have to select THAT folder you created in step 1 as the target for allocating the files.

3rd and maybe the most important thing, as stated in this forum, is going to Your Products into your account and look for Philharmonic 2, then Past Releases, select and download 2.0.5 version and install. The DLL error is gone now and the program must open nice and smooth, fot the first time.

Once you are in the program, you have to show it where the sounds are, otherwise no instruments will be shown. To do this go to the gear wheel icon or wathever is called, to stay clear, the Settings icon (Top-right corner) and in the first page there is an option to browse and select the path where the sounds are. If you created C:/IK Multimedia THAT's the one you want to select, not any subfolder. Click Save or Ok or Done (I don't really remember) and the program will start loading all the sounds data.

At this stage you can finally use the Philharmonic 2 after surely several, several hours of searching and browsing a way on how the hell got this running.

Now, you may want to safely upgrade to version 2.0.6 from the IK Product Manager, no harm by doing this.

I hope this little post can give some hope that actually this can be done... and that's because I came to think that using this software was impossible.

Cheers and happy compositions.
