SampleTank4 Crashing on Mac (Sequoia)

Postby john.kiser » Sat Jan 11, 2025 8:01 pm

When attempting to use ST4 as a DAW plug-in a crash occurs whenever I close the plug-in configuration. This is not something that had been happening, and I thought it might be Reaper, which is the DAW I'm using. However, the same thing occurs with GarageBand. It doesn't occur with any other IK plug-in (I use Amplitube and Syntronik and a variety of effects with no difficulty). Yet it's not as though there's been any update to ST lately, nor, as I recall any update to MacOS that would coincide with the sudden appearance of the problem. I've tried reinstalling, restarting, switching among AUi, VSTi, etc., but it ST continues to crash at exactly the same point. Anyone else run into this or have any suggestions?

Thanks,
jk

On my Mac, sometimes "SampleTank 3" will be added to the "Sounds Content" locations under settings, and for some reason, this causes it to crash... or maybe I should say, that after it crashes, whenever I check, it'll be there.

To fix it, I go to "Settings" (little gear at the bottom right), then select the "Sound Content" tab (2nd, on top) , select the "Sample Tank 3" one and click "remove". This usually fixes it for awhile...until it crashes again, and sure enough, "Sample Tank 3" has been added back.

Again, Im not sure this is the problem, just that removing it seems to stop the crashes for awhile, but it always comes back.
