Cannot install SOUNDS from IK Product Manager

Postby kirkmikiah » Fri Dec 27, 2024 11:51 am

I tried changing the path to different hard drive but get the following error:

The volume/disk where the copy/destination path
C:\Users\Public\Documents\IK Multimedia\MODO DRUM\
you've selected should be does not exist. Please close this window to select a new path in application. (code: 1110)

Now I can't install the sounds PERIOD!
Super frustrating mess, tried changing path multiple times but gives the EXACT SAME ERROR.

Please help.

Thank you,

Got it solved, but was forced to install to default..

Any idea how to move to another internal drive?

Was a huge amount of space taken up, will take all day to finish downloading sounds..

Thanks!

OK next set of issues.

Tried to move the content folder since almost 2 terabites of wasted space for total studio 4.

Philharmonic standalone does not see the sounds even when I point to them.
Philharmonic in sample tank give multiple errors:

Code: Select all

    Failed to load instrument 'E:\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 4 MAX\Samples\Miroslav Philharmonik 2 Sound Content\Instruments\50__Miroslav Philharmonik 2\003__Woodwinds\Ensemble\006__Bassoons\001__Bassoons Sustain\3 Bassoons Sus 6,0 LP.st3i'

I tried re-installing sounds using the zip archives but same errors.
Also after hours of research here it looks like maybe it's wants Sample Tank 3 because the developers can't bother with updating the obsolete software? See it over and over in the forum, people having issues, time and time again. But I digress.

So after adding a "sample tank 3" folder and installing to that nothing changes.

Not sure what's going on but if this is par for the course it could take months to sort this all out.

I must be a masochist because I am not going to give up. Imagine that!

Thanks, Kind regards, best to you.

It looks like the folders / files are not in the expected locations, rather than a problem with the software.
-- Are the files referenced in the error messages actually there on disk?
-- What about the sounds in the other parts - did they load OK?
-- And what exactly did you move? From where? To where?

I do not think that MP2 sounds should be within the ST4 folders. And instrument (.st3i or .st4i files) should not be within the "Samples" folder. And, for info, the location of the samples files (.pak) is encoded as a relative path within the instrument files.

This FAQ may help explain the folder hierarchy https://www.ikmultimedia.com/faq/index.php?id=1239

Thanks for your help.. I'll check out the folders, I saw that earlier, going to take
several hours of work..

I moved the "IK MULTIMEDIA" folder from the default directory to it's own 2 TB SSD.
This was because all the content that just stays on the drive in multiple forms took up most the entire 2 tb drive. : ) (doesn't do cleanup afterwards).

This time around I tried clearing the cache and looks promising.. very different behavior, maybe good, not sure.(clicked on my name in down loader to find this).

Seems to be actually unpacking stuff in the ST4 max folder... instead of downloading again for 5th time only to repeat again. Those are a few hundred gigs alone, plus the zipped files double that.

Says "wrapping up" on Sample Tank 4 max, that's the big one.. I'll give it a few more hours..

Hopefully it finishes eventually, hard to know it's it's just hanging up or not?

Anyways, if that doesn't work it's time to start sorting out the folders I guess, sigh..

[mod redacted: Please review the rules when posting]

Just saying, and again, I appreciate your help, I have made it this far, not giving up yet!

thanks again,

Just more and more confused and frustrated.

Would it make sense to delete the entire folder and spend another week downloading it from scratch?

Sadly I get internet interruptions every now and then and that seems to hose everything?

Installer never seems to do much but hang and freeze.

Is there a particular method to re-install all of the zipped folders from scratch to avoid the download times or is that a mysterious procedure as well?

Thanks

The IK |Product Manager ("IKPM") uses two areas of disk space
(a) for the downloaded files
(b) for the installed sounds libraries.

After successful installation of the libraries, you can delete (or back-up to another disk) the download files, freeing up a lot of space.

If you still have all the downloaded files, I think that I might be tempted to delete all the installed sounds libraries and start again. Disclaimer: but I have never needed to do that - so proceed at your own risk. You can download any missing files from your User Area /My Products section in the IK Multimedia web site.

The general steps would be:
-- in the IKPM (install one of the product's software only, if needed
-- run the standalone program and in its Preferences set the desired location for the sounds library (e.g. "E:\IK Multimedia" or "E:\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 4". I cannot remember which is needed, but you should be able to tell from the default location in the Preferences.
-- back in the IKPM, install the Sounds Library for that product
-- check that it goes where you want and that the sounds can be loaded
-- repeat for each product.

I have installed the ST3, ST4, Syntronik 2 and SampleTron 2 into separate locations (alongside each other) And installed MP2 (and the original Syntronik?) into the ST3 location. Then, in ST4, I added the other library locations so all the sounds could be used in ST4 (ST4 has an ST3 sounds engine built into it).
