Excuse my noobishness I'm new to production, mixing and mastering.

Would this tool be good for a beginner, are there presets for Indie\Alternative sounding music? I'm mainly a guitarist mixing my own tracks and backing tracks for jamming along with but I want to be able to make tracks that sound half decent without spending days tweaking them.

I was looking to buy Toontracks Easy Mix because I was able to apply preset for mixing and mastering and produce some good sounding tracks without having to delve too much into the vast world of mixing and mastering. Total Studio 4 Max is only slightly more expensive and seems like a much much better deal especially as it includes Modo Bass and Drums.

I liked the look of Master Match X but I don't think it's included. Is there something similar?

There is Master Match (the version before X) since T-RackS 5 MAX v2 is included in Total Studio 4 MAX (not v6 because it was not out when Total Studio 4 MAX was created).

There are also many presets for mixing and mastering that could help you too. I'd suggest not only the Master Match but the "ONE" processor which covers a lot of ground with multiple improvements made in one plugin. It is pretty cool, probably one of the best T-RackS processors ever made - and I am not usually a fan of "one plugin does it all" processors like that. Both Master Match and ONE come with Total Studio 4 MAX.
