Did anyone else notice significant tone changes from 1.8? For lack of a better word, all models now have a "crumbly" texture, where the distortion breaks up sooner and has less character and depth than before. It makes all the models sound more similar, and the distortion is not as soft on models where it should be smooth. Maybe my ears are broken this morning, but it sounds different. I love all the new effects, but I wonder if I can downgrade to get the tones I'm used to.

It should not affect your tone like that, I have not noticed this with any iterations of this update. I would recommend reaching out to support via

I'll give it a little time. It could be I'm hearing things that aren't there—it happens when things change. Thanks, Peter.

Sure but please note I was not questioning what you are hearing, just that something may have changed that may cause this not just because of the update but either isn't playing well with the update or vice versa and all that. Technology can be a real PITA and definitely sometimes weird things happen.

I find 1.8 to be brilliant! The improvement in usability is vast.
This tonex universe is exactly what I need for my uses. For
practicality and ease of use this is the perfect platform for me.
Between having both a Tonex pedal Tonex one and the tonex capture
My pile of amps is just a pile again!

I was concerned about this same thing. For the device to process another few layers of realtime effects, there must have been some compromise to the overall sound quality (bitdepth / clockrate OR latency). As a user who only needs this thing for amp and cab sims, I don't want the other stuff to dilute the quality of those modules. I have held off upgrading for now.
Does anyone know the digital audio specs pre and post the upgrade?
Great pedal of course - just don't want to be sacrificing sound quality for features I don't need.

The captures should sound the same, the effects were not added at the expense of the Tone Model performance on either pedal.

Quick update: I upgraded my audio interface, and things seem back to normal now. Whatever changes I was hearing were subtle. Audio is a tricky beast, as we all know, and it’s easy to hear things one day that are gone the next.

Thanks very much for the reassurance on this. It's amazing that the additional features were able to be included in the ToneX One with no cost to the existing sound quality or latency. Appreciate the feedback.
