Basic Tonex Operation Question

Postby zuropak » Wed Aug 21, 2024 1:53 am

I have had my Tonex pedal for about a week now. I have successfully created a bunch of my own presets and have them loaded into the pedal. My question: how can you edit/change a preset EQ within the pedal and save it into the pedal preset? I can find EQ "Q" settings, but not the actual EQ frequency adjustments. If I change the EQ controls on the pedal itself, they don't seem to get saved into the preset. Plus, they change the EQ for all other presets, unless you remember to set them all back to flat. I hate having to connect it up to my PC every time I want to make changes like this. Can I change the eq and save it all within the pedal?

Thanks
Tim

I'll have to assume no one here has the answer for this question. I have read the manual many times and have tried to find it within the pedal. It appears that there is no way to adjust a preset's EQ within the pedal and then save it within that preset. It is a real PITA that we have to connect it up to a PC, Laptop, iPad, etc. to tweak the EQ within a preset. Changing it on the EQ knobs is not an answer for me, if the changes cannot be saved and assigned only for the given preset.

Did you ever figure this out? People don't seem very responsive on these forums which is a shame.

The Banks & Presets section of the TONEX Pedal User Manual covers this. It states at the start what is included in a preset which you can save and the TONE EQ is included in that list.

Hi Steve . . . . . . thanks for your response.

All I have been able to conclude is that this doesn't work with this pedal. [mod redacted - unnecessary and keep it civil per the rules please]

Anyway, I do love this pedal for how I am using it, but it also has many shortcomings that I think could be easily improved.

Peter, I read the manual many times, including that section, and it was not clear to me what works. I will read it again. If you are saying it works within the pedal, then I have been unable to achieve this.

Coming from a Kemper world it's very different and NOT what I expected. Having said that though, I do love some of the sounds I'm getting from it. I bought it to use more like an amp so I could put it on my pedalboard and use my stomp boxes. You have to think of the software and pedal as two different things. You can't modify the presets that are on the pedal from the software from what I understand. You can modify the models save them as a preset then dump it to the pedal. The tweaking to the presets already on the pedal need to be done on the pedal.

Check out this video, it cleared up all the confusion I had.

The section I mentioned is from the TONEX Pedal User Manual and covers saving changes you make on the pedal. It lists step to specifically save presets on the pedal using the controls on the pedal.

Either way, saving your presets directly on the pedal without connecting to a computer or anything else at all is detailed step by step in the section I mentioned in the manual so this is resolved and will be marked as such. Thank you.
