Using mic hd 2 with splitter and powerbank on iPhone

Postby livetl68 » Wed Feb 22, 2023 8:38 am

Hi!
I am trying to get the irig mic hd 2 to work over a split so I can use the microphone simultaneously with a powerbank to not run out of juicce during longer sessions outside here in the north of sweden where phone batteries dies early due to the cold.

We have tried to use the Belkin Lightning Audio + Charge RockStar but the light on the microphone does not come on and no audio is passed through to the recording apps on the iphone (have tried several but none work).

Anyone found a split that works for this?

I have reached out to the IK Multimedia support but they had no clue.

No love for this thread :D ?!

I really would like this to work:

Is there maybe another type of adapter that will work better than the Belkin?

Hello,

Same thing here with a iRig Pre HD and the same adapter :( I am a bit disappointed because it should work regarding the compatibility.

I have the exact issue and also thought that the Belkin would get the job done. I run an RTA mic with an audio tool for hours some days. It obviously drains my iPad Pros (enormous) battery and I would love to be able to charge it and monitor frequencies simultaneously. My iRig Pre doesn't come to life, zero signs of power, no lights, with no audio passthrough whatsoever when I (try to) use it with the Belkin. That's really the only reason i got the Belkin to begin with. Lol.

You guys ever find a solution? I tried 2 from Amazon, neither worked to charge and record simultaneously.

I was under the impression that the Belkin would solve my problem as well. An RTA mic and an audio tool can keep me going for hours on end. I would really like a way to charge my iPad Pro at the same time as I keep an eye on the frequencies, since it clearly uses up a lot of power from its big battery.

IKM has stupendous customer service. I reached out to them with our issues and was given a solution, of which I jumped right into. I sold my pre HD within a week of posting it the day I received the iRig Pro I/O. that one charges the iPad. It comes with a variety of options as far as connections go. What I didn't know is that you also have to purchase a dc power supply which takes up a lot of space in my Nanuk935. For you guitarists out there is even larger than the 1Spot for your pedals... by about twice that size. So keep that in mind. I didn't like that I had to buy a whole new rig, and it tucked learning afterwards that it didn't come with the anticipated pwr sply but what softened the blow was how cheap I got it from Reverb, as B stock and the fact that my Pre HD sold so quickly and for the requested amount.

My iPad Pro stays fully charged during continuous usage at mid to low brightness and never sleep. Oh, and I the RTA Audio app that I've been using for years is not compatible with the iRig Pro I/O as was confirmed after a few helpful back n forths with IKM
and their speedy customer service team. I've also let the RTA Audio dev team know of the issue via the apple store. Fingers crossed the they fix it cuz currently, it'll work just fine on batteries but it can't change and it won't pass Audio through to the monitor port.

Link below is for iRig Pro I/O
