MODO DRUM 1.5 disk size footprint

Postby Mbernbrich » Thu Mar 31, 2022 5:14 pm

Hello World

I have tested MODO DRUM FREE with one drum kit (Studio kit) and it was about 3GB in size.
I was curious about more kits and updated to MODO DRUM SE.
That gave me one additional Kit, the Jazz Kit.
After some trouble with downloading content (multiple times) I ended up with 6.39GB in total
To me it looks like for each Kit roughly 3GB are required.
I am a bit surprised, because I hoped to get away with less as it is modelling, not sample-based.
(I just read, there might be samples for the cymbals - not sure about this, but it would explain the size.)

However, looking at the file sizes my theory does not match.
Here are my PAK-Files and sizes:

3.285.743.597 MODO DRUM Common Elements.pak
314.308.302 MODO DRUM Jazzy.pak
412.895.834 ModoDrum.pak
21.476.126 ModoDrumConfig.pak
2.767.745.471 ModoDrumFactoryContent.pak

I now wonder why there is the COMMON ELEMENTS pak and the FACTORYCONTENT with each around 3GB.
The FACTORYCONTENT was there when I installed the FREE version.
The JAZZY pak and the COMMON pak seem to have come with the SE version.

Please:
Can anyone who has the MODO DRUM 1.5 with all 13 Kits tell us a bit on the total size or let us now abot the file names and sizes?

Thanks :-)

Hey, Martin! How are you doing?

Just bought MODO DRUM 1.5 and finished installing everything.

The plugin itself (which comes with the Studio kit) is 3,03 GB (3.263.352.832 bytes) and you can choose where to install it.

All the extra kits are installed automatically to C:\Users\Public\Documents\IK Multimedia\MODO DRUM (took me a while to find this, though) and are 10,9 GB (11.719.553.024 bytes). All the files here are .pak:

- Black Oyster: 181 MB (190.504.960 bytes);
- Brit Custom: 1,33 GB (1.431.556.096 bytes);
- Common Elements: 3,05 GB (3.285.745.664 bytes);
- Djentleman: 540 MB (566.575.104 bytes);
- Extreme: 667 MB (699.514.880 bytes);
- Grungy: 378 MB (397.197.312 bytes);
- Jazzy: 299 MB (314.310.656 bytes);
- Metal: 1,65 GB (1.781.207.040 bytes);
- Plexi: 330 MB (346.468.352 bytes);
- Reference: 283 MB (297.730.048 bytes);
- Rock Custom: 313 MB (329.076.736 bytes);
- Silver: 1,93 GB (2.079.666.176 bytes).

If you want, you can move all these .pak files to any other folder you'd like.
Just be sure to open MODO DRUM, click the cog on the upper right corner and change the Sound Content Folder to the one you moved your files to!

Hope this helps!

Hey Roberto

so it has a footprint of around 14GB. I am still surprised that it needs so much where most sounds are synthesised, but the remaining sounds like crashes seem to need some space.

Thank you very much for sharing these details. :D

Hey, Martin!

I just realized I skipped one kit while installing: Bubinga.

Really sorry about that!

The .pak for this one is 2,13 GB (2.290.159.616 bytes).
