DLL / VPA error on running Miroslav Philharmonik 2

Postby JuanMLz » Sun Jul 12, 2020 3:49 pm

Hi, I'm re-installing all my Total Studio MAX 2 programs on a fresh Windows 10 install.
They're all working fine except Miroslav Philharmonik 2, which after installation and when attempting to run it for the first time, it gives me a DLL error message saying: "Can't open...Philharmonik 2.vpa"
I've checked the path specified and the .vpa file is indeed there, in the same directory as the .exe file.
I've downloaded and installed it three times, with the same outcome every time. Same running it as administrator.

I've just issued a tech support ticket, but thought I'd check here also, just in case.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks!

Others have run into a similar problem and have posted here (you can Search the forum).

Thank you.

Same here. Worked with first installing 2.0.5, then 2.0.6.

You are a life saver! Thanks a lot - installing firstly the 2.0.5 & then the 2.0.6, fixed it also for me! Hope it gets a fix some time in the future, permanently...

Thanks very much--this fix still works. Bought MP2 on sale yesterday and was deep in all kinds of frustration until I found this thread.

Me too! Thanks for documenting this.

Funny that this is the only place (meaning this forum) where I've seen this mentioned. Odd that there was never anything "official" from IKM on this being a legit workaround (e.g. a README.TXT file like I've seen in other software), or anything I've found on their FAQ pages, or a brief note in an email during the SW purchase, etc. And, apparently it's an oldie-but-a-goodie from 2020...

viewtopic.php?f=12&t=23982&p=102487#p102255" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And, who would have thought that loading old SW then reloading new SW could even be a fix? (but it is!) Seems like the 2.0.6 installer is just flat missing what it needs to work out-of-the-box. So, I guess everybody that bought after 2.0.5 would see this problem? Kinda weird...

Thank goodness for forum members (esp. DarkStar) who curate fixes/tips to help us confused users. Well done, DarkStar...

Yeah, its June 9th 2024.. it worked for me too.
I guess it's probably way too late to expect a patch.
But for those who need it ... go to your Products on the website and there should be a tab that says "Past Releases", download 2.05 , install it, then install 2.06 and your'e good
