IK Product Manager - Syntronik 2 178GB!

Postby lowthert » Sun May 29, 2022 6:14 pm

Hello all. I took advantage of the 33 for 1 Syntronik deal but now have a major storage issue. The IK Product Manager is located in Documents (system drive) on my Mac - and even though I have installed the libraries for the separate instruments to a different 2 TB Sample Drive - which has over 1TB of free space - the IKPM is still reflecting 178GB on my system drive - of what I do not know - except all of the downloaded files are there x 33 instruments - in the IKPM folder.

All I know is that it has left me with 1GB of my system drive still available - and I cannot download and install the library files for the remaining two synths because 'there isn't enough space' - even though I 'Install to...' my other Sample drive. Does it duplicate the files? Can I delete the downloaded files (parts 1,2,3 etc) in IKPM location - after I have directed them to my Sample drive?

Can I move the IKPM to another location - and off my system drive?

Has anyone else seen this and what is the solution?

Thanks guys - I am stalled at the moment!

If you have installed the instruments you can safely delete or better
move the Syntronik 2 Files from Documents to another place
these are only the installers with the sounds and not needed to use Syntronik 2
this should free up enough dis space for your system

Thanks @drohde - all of them? Or just the downloaded instrument parts - and keep them in a backup?

Why then do they ask you to choose where to install and still copy to the system disk?

Thanks for coming back 8-)

all which is in Product manager are only installers and could be deleted or moved
the sounds will be installed to the location you choose under preferences
in your case this will be your external disk i think

they were first downloaded to the product manager folder and then installed
and first at install you will be asked to which location
all you download via product manager will be saved in the documents / Product manager folder, like the mac download folder
keep the sound files on an eternal disk in case you have to install again, cause the download expires after 180 days

Makes perfect sense - thank you very much. Maybe that is something IK could point out...

Appreciated. 8-)

Next time round, you can set the "downloads" folder in IKPM to another location. Then use the "Install to " option to set the destination folder for the library.

I like to move the installers from the Product Manager directory to a backup drive, in case I need them again after the 180 days are over. But I don't want them on my system drive, that's for sure!

There is something I can't figure out : What about the Syntronik 1 sounds and patches? Are they of some utility, aside eating up SSD space? Are they somewhat redundant? I have the same problem with the SampleTank 4 Max library, while I still have the complete set of instruments from ST2 and ST3 installed. Are they redundant? I can see a Miroslav Ph.2 CE folder in the ST4 listing, but I have the complete instrument into my ST3 folder. Useless?

I have 2 1TB SSD's stricly devoted to my libraries and everything is in the red zone... I did not expected a 650MB download when upgrading to ToTal Studio 3,5 Max...
