AT5 Looper - Dead air on loop?

Trying to use the looper and I either get about a half second of dead air at the end of the loop before it starts over or I get an obnoxious pause and popping noise between loops. I've watched a few demos and this doesn't happen for others. Anyone else have this issue? Any settings I can check for this? I'm controlling it via footswitch and no matter what I do there is always dead air between my loops end and beginning.
