notes out of range?

Postby tdkelley1 » Wed Jan 19, 2022 8:15 pm

Hello,

I am having trouble with the range of notes with Modo so that I can't hear some of the nodes. I am using Reaper and it loads many notes in a MIDI file out of range. I can see the notes on the piano roll, but I can't appear to change the range. Can someone help?

I have seen this error posted before by someone else, but I can't seem to find the link.

A 4-string bass has a range of E1 to C#4.
Reaper in 'Piano Roll' will show you 'keys' all the way up to B9.
Do not use 'Piano Roll' in Reaper for MODO bass.
You want to create a custom MIDI note names / map and use named notes.

Watch this video.
His example is a Drum set. The concept is the same for a Bass.

You need to transpose the notes, so they are within MODO Bass range - E4 -> C#4, i believe.

You can do that by selecting the event in Reaper, right-click, select "Source Properties" and then input 12 or -12 in the transpose semitones.

Reaper also has a MIDI effect that can transpose notes - then you will need to route that MIDI track to the plugin - not have notes directly on the MODO BASS track.
(as far as I understand, atleast)
